No one can see who the rating is off since it is annoymous so it doesnt stop buyers rating what they want even if it not deserved.
Not deserved in your opinion, that's the point of stars to express an opinion. You say the seller shouldn't charge for packaging, perhaps your buyers think Royal Mail's prices are too high, in my opinion both wrong but as I said previously equally lacking perspective.
Can you point out where I stated sellers should not charge for packaging? I simply stated P&P charges should be fair, if they want to include packaging cost then that should be included in the item price. That is the way eBay works now, so if you want to overcharge on P&P to cover your packaging costs, trips to the PO, wear and tear on shoes etc etc then you do that but expect low stars and selling restrictions on your account.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

Let's not be pedantic, it's clear my comment in post 31 referred to not charging for packaging as part of the P&P cost rather than at all. You say it should be in the item price, I, and anyone with sense, says it should be in the Postage and Packaging costs.
You may wish to read:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/selling-practices.html#5
under what you can charge as part of the separate P&P cost:
"Packaging cost: This can include the cost of packaging materials."
If you, or other buyers, want to leave low stars because the seller puts the packaging in the P&P cost, instead of the item cost (thus saving you 10% by the seller not having to add FVFs to cover putting this reasonable charge in the item cost) and think this is wrong, I think it's madness and will drive away small sellers reducing choice and variety on eBay.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I agree packaging charges should be included in P&P costs, after all it stands for postage and packaging but buyer expectations are much higher than they used to be.
Buyers expect to be charged Free P&P or the actual cost of the stamp, so to avoid low stars for P&P charges and buyers complaining about the postage cost, it would be wise to include packaging costs in the item cost and not the P&P cost.
ETA: I have never rated the stars when leaving feedback even when deserved basically because it is a bit more time taking than simply leaving feedback. However I will now be rating the low stars when I feel it is deserved.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
But you are suggesting marking down because of £1.51 before packaging, based on what you've said (that you agree but it's not how you've been treated as a seller) it seems you have 3 lows so other sellers should be marked down too because you were.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

I stated sellers should receive low stars when deserved not just because I received low stars and in my option being over charged £1.51 on P&P is not reasonable postage costs.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
You said the seller should be marked down and refuse to acknowledge that 1.51 is before the packaging costs. You go on to say that sellers should put packaging costs in the item price but don't agree with it yourself, it's just the way eBay is these days (post 34 in-case you've forgotten already).
So as everyone else is doing it, including 3 of your buyers, so in turn you suggest the OP should do it to another seller, despite your disagreement with it and/or lack of acknowledgeable of the true 'overcharge'.
Bottom line reads to me that you got marked down so lets encourage other buyers to do the same....In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I will say it one last time, hopefully get through to you this time. In my option £1.51 overcharge on P&P deserves a low rating for P&P. It is nothing to do with me receiving low ratings, I will rate when it is deserved and only when deserved, not to be malicious or because I received 3 low ratings myself.
If the seller wanted to include packaging costs then that should have been in the item cost since a lot of buyers expect to be charged the cost of the stamp.
ETA: Post 34 in case you missed what I wrote:

But not you! Who cares what others think, we are talking about what you think and what you think in your own words is "I agree packaging charges should be included in P&P costs". So why do you keep saying 1.51 when it's 1.51 minus the packaging costs? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I'm clearly stating P&P stands for postage and packaging so you should be able to include packaging costs the P&P costs but as a lot of buyers expect to be charged the exact cost of a stamp then it would be wise to include the packaging costs in the item price NOT the P&P costs. This will avoid buyers complaining about low P&P charges and receiving low ratings for P&P costs.
£1.51 is an overcharge, at least £1.30 of that should have been on the item price not the postage costs. Do you honestly believe it cost £1 for a mailing bag? I have yet to find one at that price!A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
