an what if every time he post's something he has an half hour round trip to the post office and used £1 - £2 maybe more of fuel. maybe even have to pay to park up if the only post office is in a busy town centre. Would you then expect him to have made a loss on selling you an item.
you know the price before you bought, if you was unhappy then why buy from him?

No I did not know the combined postage cost before bidding, something I should check in future!
I am not losing any sleep over this lol! It was just a little moan:rotfl:

    ?

A seller that starts charging for petrol or walking to the PO time is not going to last long on ebay. Those costs need to be built in to the costs of selling, they are nothing at all to do with the buyer. What next? Expecting the buyer to stump up for the coffee you consume in the cafe next to the Post office once you've delivered the silngle parcel.? Buyers aren't daft and won't put up with this sort of nonsense.

if you are a business then add it to your operating costs, if you are a private seller then maybe really really rethink the notion of selling something for a pound or two and having to spend an hour posting it.

That's like saying buying a car bulb from halfords and having to pay extra for them to fit it for u is unreasonable as it doesn't cost the company any extra to fit it for u. Should they put the fitting price in with the price of the bulb? That would be over charging if u didn't let them fit it.

P&P is postage and packaging costs. if these costs are added to the item price then is that not over charging people if they decide to pick the item up.

If it costs the seller to get to the post office to post your item it has to be added to the postage price otherwise they are making a loss for agreeing to post the item.
You wouldn't be happy if the seller waited 2 week before posting it an said well I wasn't going to the post office until 2 week after, an the item was sold so cheap I couldn't make a special trip to post it or I would be out off pocket.

An OP, if u didn't know the combined postage before u won the item surly u was expecting postage at advertised rate, so combined postage was less than u expected so isn't that a good thing... Why moan
  • I'm hoping a seller iver won 3 auction from is going to combine postage as I've one 3 very light items and it's £7.50 postage. I'd have no problem paying £4-5 postage but £7.50 is very excessive.

How big was the mailing bag? I've seen even small ones for £1, so it's not unreasonable to assume that the bag cost over £1.

OP is pretty much being a pain in the !!! and complaining about nothing.

I fail to see how someone openly putting postage costs will lose them sales?

Which is worse, Someone selling an item for £13 with free 2nd class postage.

    or

£10 and £2.99 postage, Even though the item arrived with a 2nd large stamp worth 58p.

    To me i saved 1p.

Doesnt bother me how they priced it, All i care about is how cheap i can get it.

As i mentioned previously bought, 2 car parts, Listed singly, The seller i chose was cheaper for the item
but dearer on the postage, Adding a 2nd item worked out cheaper because they combined postage which only
    added 25p.

Seems we all have our own ideas of what we want from a seller and their listings.

My pet hate, People who sell universal items and list every word possible to get more listings.

eg.. H7 car bulb. It fits all cars that have the H7 fitment. Hundreds of them, Yet one seller
had over 4000 of them listed with different manufacturer or model names.

    Yet selling 1 identical bulb.

Trying to narrow the search down to several brands was harder than it should be because sellers
used manufacturers keywords for cheap rubbish no brand items.

Is there anyway to exclude listings from a particular seller?

People who complain about postage are total irritants to sellers trying to run a business.

You are aware of the cost when you bid, its not any business of yours about how much the actual stamps cost.

Why not be content with receiving the item that you paid for and were fully aware of the cost involved when bidding rather than investigating how much profit the seller has made. I got sick and tired of penny picking peasants hassling me with this same problem that I just began to offer "free shipping" and front loaded the cost to the original start price. Having to increase the price to cover the increase of fees to ebay, but if people like you are content at paying more for the 'free shipping' you get what you deserve when sellers just want to run their business smoothly without dealing with total ludicrous penny picking peasants that waste their time having to deal with.
  • "I know the mailing bag wouldn't have cost £1 plus"

How do you know this and if you do not trust their word how could you trust sending them money before getting the goods?

There are sellers ripping off buyers on P&P (yes don't buy if not happy but ultimately any business should seek to meet the reasonable demands of their customers and not loading the P&P charge isn't unreasonable) but we are talking about 1.50 on top of the stamp out of which the item had to be packed.

Sellers who are genuinely ripping off buyers will suffer, unfortunately amid this sellers such as the OP's will suffer low stars over a few pence and possibly be removed from eBay resulting buyers like the OP will no longer winning auctions at below value (due to less choice) who will no doubt then start moaning eBay is too expensive....

£1.51 is a lot to be overcharged on postage especially when the items were sent in a mailing bag.

OP as you have stated you got the items cheaper than you could find elsewhere then I imagine you are happy with the final price but do not like the idea of sellers making a profit on P&P charges - This is why you should rate low on the P&P stars when leaving feedback.

P&P should be charged at a reasonable price. If the seller wants to make a profit and cover the cost of packaging & trips to the PO then this should be added to the item price not the P&P cost, it makes it looks like the seller is doing it to make a little profit and save on final value fee's.
