if I cook a chicken in my Remoska I do it upside down which makes the breast lovely and moist and tasty. I have just got a SC and am cooking a chuck in it for the first time. I have put it in upside down (with onions, garlic and a bit of wine and stock) can anyone tell me if this works, or is there a reason why it would be better breast up ? Thanks0

personally i put it breast side up, and as it comes out sooooooo tender falling off the bones I don't imagine it will do it any harm, but it also won't necessarily make it better either...

i can recommend chutnies, and jellies for the apples (apple and mint jelly is great on lamb, and apple butter is to die for) and jam for the plums.
oooh and maybe plum vodka?
Personally my partner makes the worst wine ever (sorry babe but the last lot was at risk of melting the drains), and I always find it gives me belly ache and headaches too...
he thinks that Wilkinsons have a good range of wine making stuff - have a look on car boots freecycle etc for demi johns as they can be really cheap, and once sterilised with the correct stuff it doesn't matter where they have come from.

Hi everyone, I've just found an ancient bottle of laundry liquid for washing clothes by hand and wondered if this would be ok to use in the washing machine and if so, would I need to alter it (water it down, mix with something else etc)? I live in a rented property and the washing machine belongs to the landlord so I don't want to do anything that might cause any damage!! Thanks.
I would give it a go by using it along with my normal washing liquid/powder - say 75 per cent of normal washing machine liquid/powder with 25 per cent of your hand wash liquid. The foam inhibitor in washing machine liquid/powder will prevent the other liquid from foaming in the machine. If all goes well (and I am sure it will) you can try increasing the ratio of hand wash slightly next time.
I often use some Stardrops (not designed for machine washing) along with my machine liquid and it's OK.0 -
Hello
I hope the bakers of the forum will be able to help me? I have just made a batch of Mary Berry's butterfly cakes. The recipe was for 12 cakes with butter icing.
Having piped the icing on and added the butterfly wings to the 12 cakes, I have a whole bowl of butter icing leftover, more than half again, enough to ice about another 20 cakes.
I don't need any more cakes this week, can I freeze the buuter icing for next weeks baking?
Thanks for any help received, SG0 -
It's ok folks, I've just found a thread from 2009 that cover's my question, for anyone who want's to know, the answers on the other thread said yes to freezing, just needs a good whipping once defrosted and also in a airtight container will last a couple of weeks in the fridge. SG0
