i've got a bosch and because I do a LOT of washing I use the time saver option and 40oc wash takes 68min and 60oc takes 74oc. But in the manual it says that if the washing is not too dirty you can use the refresh option which takes about half and hour but never tried it
  • Just a quick diversion - I have replaced my old dishwasher with an indesit. The old machine took over an hour. With this one, if I do the shortest wash, no drying but leave the door open an inch or two when it's finished washing, the residual heat evaporates any water and crockery is left beautifully clean. Quick and economical!

DW of yesteryear used to heat up like an oven to dry the dishes but most modern DW do not have a proper drying cycle anymore and havn't for about 10 years because they are all chasing good energy ratings. I'm almost certain that the 'drying' part of your DW cycle is the timer counting down while the dishes dry using the residule heat in them from the hot rinse water and a final drain of any drips out of the machine before ending. You are doing manually what your machine will do automatically.

  • My washer broke down 3 weeks ago and I spent ages searching the net for info on the best ones. The Which site recommended an AEG as its best performer with other German ones (Bosch,Siemens,Miele). I found washerhelp.co.uk to be of tremendous help with so much info and advice.
I rang my local retailer with an excellent reputation and asked them-straight away he said the AEG.He offered me an AEG 62825 for £399 inc 5 yrs guarantee- I got him to reduce the price when I said I could get it cheaper on the net. I paid £370.
It is wonderful-15 progs, 700 and 1200 spin speeds(the 700 one is better than the old bosch 800)
It has categories for washing and various temperature choices within each category. The electronic display shows me instantly how long each programme will take and then counts down during a wash, I love the fact that during a part of each prog I can open the door (yes!) and take out/put in an item,
40C takes 77 mins or 50 mins on the timesaver prog (easycare setting)
40C on delicates takes 60 mins
There is a 30 min prog called Refresh which is for lightly soiled items and that seems good-have used it for undies etc.
Also an EnergySavers prog which takes longer than other ones but uses less energy.
I have used liquid detergents for 7 years and have never had any trouble with streaks/gunge or anything else nasty.
Also I use Lidl Adritt concentrated fabric conditioner 1.5Lwhich only needs 10ml to work with a load- a bottle costing under £1 last for 150 washes and works as well as more expensive ones.
    Hope all this helps someone.

Just a quick warning - I had some tenants who did this and the heat and humidity from the drying dishes managed to unstick the laminate from the work surface above it, leaving a large 'blister' at the edge. No problem, I guess, with a tiled or similar solid surface though...
  • I have a Bosch Clasixx 1200 washing machine which is about 2 years old and I mainly use the easy care 40 degree cycle as it only takes 47 minutes!

My tip of the day is to use the wash balls - not the sort you fill with detergent but the sort which come with little balls in them. It means that you don't have to use any detergent whatsoever and it washes all but the muddiest washes absolutely fine (and that's not bad considering I have 3 kids and a dog who all think mud is great). Save the earth and your wallet at the same time!

Another tip is if you use a tumble drier, try not using fabric softner in your washing machine as the tumble drier does a great job of softening the washing - I bet you won't even notice the difference!

    2. the black gunk in the soap drawer is more complicated than that. The roof of the soap drawer has lots of tiny holes that the water feeds through down into the doap drawer. the gunk is from the water running through all the time. i can't clean it because the roof is fixed so i cant clean behind it. Currently i am squirting it with dettol mould and mildew remover and then flushing it out by spraying it with the hose which i drag in through the kitchen window!!! pain in the a to say the least !!

I pull the soap drawer right out, and then use a toothbrush to clean the little holes at the top. I have a jug of warm water handy to riinse ot the toothbrush. It;s also possible to apply powder cleaner (bicarb, or barkeepers friend, etc) this way.

    Hope that helps
  • I love this washing machine! It has a quick wash cycle of under an hour plus you can have it on Time Saver and use it on Mini load. The best feature for me is you can programme it in so that it washes at night. My only gripe about the machine is despite the fact its supposed to be ultra quiet - it isn't!
  • We bought a Beko WMA765 after looking through available details and have been very happy with it, both for energy efficiency, quietness, 7kg capacity and low water use (we're on a meter). 40º washes range in time down to 55min or 30min for a lightly soiled half quantity wash. Spin speed is up to 1600 for cottons so they can be very dry when they come out - lower speeds for other materials.
