school days porridge or wholegrain cereal, fruit juice and fruit. DS sometimes likes plain yoghurt with oats adn fruits. Weekends is pancaaes, french toast or bacon butties - whch dd likes to have in our bed watching TV!
One of my colleuegs has just started a breakfast club at college for the school age kids who come here and all the staff have noticed a dramatic improvement in attention and behaviour in the kids since it startedPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

porridge, shreddies, cheerios or weetabix and at weekends toast.
Once we got rid of the sugary ones like coco pops, you may as well just spoon sugar into their mouths, they are much better, more alert, enjoy their food, it is true what they say you are what you eat:D0 -
Great thread! Neither me or hubby eats within an hour or two of waking and our 5 year old is the same.
I've tried putting a tablespoon or two of cereal in a bowl and giving it to him with his hot chocolate but most of the time he doesn't touch it, then l throw it away cursing to myself as it's a waste. (I don't want to eat it as it's then soggy and cold and l'm trying to lose a podgy belly).
He does have a good cupful of hot chocolate made totally with milk so l suppose that's better than nothing. But it does interest me what other children are like....

All my kids have cereal ranges from porridge, weetabix, shreddies to cheerios. Everyday about 30 mins after getting up and they have a warm drink also. Both schoolage kids take a snack for break and have packed lunches. Toddler at home has a snack about 11am ish

DS who's 5 will have either 1 slice of toast or cereal and a yoghurt for afters.
Sometimes he has to eat at schools breakfast club and they have all sorts! Pancakes, waffles, muffins, cereals etc
He much prefers having breakfast there:D0 -
I have never been a breakfast eater to be honest and this has probably been picked up by my 7yr old son. I seem to have to have been "up" in the morning for at least an hour or so before i can eat which is hard cos i hate to get up early LOL!
My son usually has a bowl of cocoa pops or some other cereal. Not great i know but better than nothing! Sometimes he will have a single piece of toast with maybe marmite etc. He will also have a big glass of apple juice or milk.
Cannot believe how much other peoples kids are eating from reading posts above!! Gosh! Makes me worry i am not feeding him enough!! :eek:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Regular breakfast for my boys is porridge with honey with 3 dried prunes or apricots. Some mornings we have pancakes with fresh fruit, boiled egg n soldiers or on a weekend the occassional bacon butty. My sons love their breakfast.0

my sons always had breakfast when they lived at home, on school days it was two big bowls of cereals and a glass of milk
weekends was one bowl of cereal whilst i cooked bacon, or scrambled eggs or beans on toast, again with a glass of milk.
since they have moved out they still eat breakfast, cereal and milk folled by bacon or sausage sandwhiches, or sometimes cold left over pizza or other takeaways lol:oloves to knit and crochet for others0 -
When I was younger, my parents always encouraged me to have breakfast, would be porridge, weetabix, cornflakes etc. Was only allowed crappy cereals like Coco Pops at the weekend.
My best friend is a primary teacher and she said it's really apparent which children have food in the morning and the ones who don't. Attention spans etc all differ. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
