what does your child have for breakfast

We normally have an argument about him having nothing
(
He used to have Weetabix or toast but lately he won't have anything other than a glass of milk...... He's 12 going on 25
He will sometimes eat at weekends but it is unusual so we try not to make a big deal of it.0 -
One of the worst things I have ever seen was a mom on the bus with her two kids at about 8am ( on the way to school ) and the kids were eating their breakfast on the bus. The breakfast was crisps, chocolate and fizzy pop.

My eldest is a bit of a faddy eater and will eat the same thing every day for months before picking something new, currently its a hot cross bun with cherry tomatoes and 3 or 4 marshmellows, my youngest eats anything so he has either choc spread on toast, fried egg sandwich, scrambled eggs on toast or a bowl of crunchy nut or frosties.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0

dd1 (15) hates cereal & toast!!! she will have potato waffles or bacon or pancakes (if i have time) i try to give her something warm in the winter but she'll just have fruit in the summer or ham & cherry toms.
dd2 (3.5) has cereal (half choc weetabix, handful of fruit filled mini shredded wheat, handful of choco hoops all in the same bowl with semiskimmed milk :rotfl:) or toast with either jam or choc spread, followed by a yogurt.
dh has weetabix & i have cereal bar & piece of fruit on the way to work (too busy sorting everyone else out at home).
at the weekend dd1 skips breakfast as generally asleep & i make bacon & egg butties which dd2 has without the bacon & egg so just tomato ketchup butties :rotfl:
not always the healthiest but my kids always eat before leaving the house even if its just a piece of fruit.0 -
My two usually have toast and marmite, then fruit and a yogurt. Or a couple of times a week we have scrambled egg on toast with a large OJ, or dippy egg and soldiers with marmite on the toast.0

DS7 will have cereal, like Weetabox or Shreddies followed by a slice of toast most days. On Mondays he has a poached egg as well because his class is last in for dinner, which means he's staaaaarving!
Sundays is cooked breakfast or pancakes with fruit.
Forgot to add, he must have a cup of tea too. It is decaf though"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
During the week, DD1 (11) has 2 weetabix with bran sprinkles on top. She leaves the house at 7.15 so breakfast is a quick affair but she knows she needs it to feel awake. At weekends, she's more likely to have toast, croissants, different cereal or a cooked breakfast.
DD2 (10) usually has a toasted bagel with ham and juice or smoothie to drink, but occasionally has pancakes/crumpets/waffles or a continental breakfast of sliced ham, cheese & yoghurt. She would often prefer not to eat breakfast, which I'm ok with at weekends, but I do anything I can to encourage her to eat something before going to school. Very occasionally, this might mean resorting to offering her a biscuit (rich tea or shortbread) which usually sees her eating small quantities of a few different items which I know will see her through till break.
They both take a snack for break. DD1 doesn't get lunch till 1.30pm which is long time after breakfast which needs to be finished by 7am, otherwise she'd be fine to go all the way through (as she does at weekends.)
DD2 eats a LOT between 3.45 & 5pm. She likes a big snack (packed lunch size) and a full early dinner. She has times of the day when she isn't hungry (morning) or is starving (when school finishes) whereas DD1 eats 3 meals a day and is never really one nor the other.0 -
My little man (5) has quite a big brekkie. I like to make sure he has a decent meal before going off to school.
He has:
- bowl of cereal with semi skimmed milk (branflakes or special k). Choc n roll is allowed at weekends but he often still chooses branflakes.
- a yoghurt or two or an actimel yoghurt drink
- either a pain au chocolat or a brioche
-apple juice and water to drink
At weekends he can often get through the above plus a slice of fruit toast and might even ask for another yoghurt! Today he had a full English haha which he really enjoyed, but while we're still absolutely stuffed full, he's asking for lunch!
