I dont know if its a fake. I got the same thing off ebay a month ago (UK seller too). Works great, real deal. Have a search on Ebay and see what you find. Even if it was a fake it works great on my w810i.

Trust me, the fakes off eBay are very very good, and I got stung. They act just like a normal memory card in normal usage but things go awry when you try and use it with a file bigger than around 800mb.

Some people are making a mint on eBay selling these - I opened a dispute and won through PayPal.

Only way to be sure is to break open the casing, but nobody wants to do that!

Interesting. I have never had cause to use a file 800mbs or more.

Like ive said many a time, its bull that the fake ones dont work. Ive now got 4 all fake coz they cost me like a fourth of the rrp, and they work absolutely fine.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"

Of course it's great that your 4 fake cards work but what about those fake ones that stop working after a while? Can you guarantee everyone who's buying that the ones on amazon marketplace will work?

I too have bought fake cards on ebay but I wouldn't recommend other people doing the same if they will be storing important things like photos on them and suddenly the cards die on them, how do you think they will feel?

At £12 these are very likely to be fake. So I'd recommend it only for those who can afford to take the risk of losing the data they will be storing on them.
  • None of the sellers say "SONY" in product description. Only the model number and capacity but not "Sony"

Thus they're fakes. Maybe very good ones but still fake all the same :)

You dont need to do anything as drastic as breaking them open mate.
There's a few ways to tell the fakes:

Speed test - the fakes are never up to speed.

Capacity - the fakes normally show a different absolute max capacity.

Print quality - The fakes usually have pretty poor printing on the device.

The packaging (thing Lexar & Sandisk ranges) is quite often wrong.

Lexar (CF) - The serial numbers are either missing or in the wrong format.

Lexar (CF) - wrong shaped metal front and / or back plate.

Anyone who buys Lexar & Sandisk cards off eBay is asking for trouble - virtually all of them are fake.
Not everything that's cheap is a bargain
  • I've bought cards from both ebay and amazon marketplace. I even bought a 4gb scandisk card from Ebay. All the cards were fake. The only one I had problems with came from Amazon Marketplace. It was a 2gig card and would corrupt all data put on it.
