A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

MSE tips is a bit slow off the mark, the sale started nearly 2 weeks ago, been there and done that, lol!!

I bought a Clutch bag and then promptly sold it to a bag friend (I don't go anywhere to use a fancy little girly bag) and I bought a Red Leather Zip Pouch which matches one of my bags - this is the item that John Lewis price matched for me, so I got a great deal on it....

There's loads of things that I like but I've resisted buying another actual Mulberry bag.

I do still stand by the fact that they are just a safe home for my money though..... I sell and buy bags all of the time, so long as I buy well I never lose any money, in fact most of the times I make a few quid, which means I get to enjoy a lovely bag and then when I'm ready to move it on and get a different one, I just sell it on. So I get to use lovely bags and it doesn't actually cost me anything. It kind of makes sense to me anyway, lol!!
  • That makes a lot of sense to me Lulabelle too.
You may as well get the enjoyment and if you make a few pounds too, then that's a great bonus!
    Mortgage 31.5.2011 - £212,329
    Mortgage now £209,244 :T
    Emergency Fund £1000

Ahhhh - I've just read the MSE article about the sale.... They should have had a word with me before they wrote it and I could have helped them get the facts right, what a saddo I am!!

Mulberry have 2 sales a year, one which starts on Christmas Eve and the other which starts mid June. Each of them run for 4 weeks. 50% is very rare, most sale items are 20%/30%/40% and just the very unpopular styles or exotic (super expensive) leathers go at 50%.

Hmmmmm, I really do know too much about this subject. Off to find a life now....... xx

Hi just dropping by, I noticed you started your diary around the same time as me, but you are doing a lot better than I am (however I did have some unexpected turns). Its nice to see that it is possible if you are motivated! And don't buy too many handbags :P

Thought I'd best pop in and say hello to my poor neglected diary....

I always tend to go a bit AWOL when I'm struggling to be good with money. Anyway, rather than worrying about the money that has been spent I've decided to have a little review of the success's so far to put myself in a positive frame of mind.

    So....

It's 20 months since I started my diary and during that time we've:
-reduced the mortgage from £134k to £87k
-bought a car with real money (not added it to the mortgage which is what we did in the past)
    -increased our OP's from £22k to £53k
    -had a holiday
-kept our credit cards at zero balance
-paid £7k in to an ISA

We've been fortunate that our income has allowed us to this, but I'm realistic that this may not always be the case, so I just need to try and get back in to my money saving ways as they've really fallen by the wayside in the last 6 months or so.

We've also decided that we definitely want to look at buying our first B2L property as this will be our pension fund. Some of the OP's will need to be used to fund the deposit for this.

Sooooooo....... I'll be lurking around everyone's diaries daily to try and keep myself on the straight and narrow.

Mine would say "nattypants is far too easily distracted and is at risk of failing to achieve set targets"

Just as well we're not sitting next to one another in class!!!

Lula, you have done BRILLIANTLY - whatcha on about girl??!!!
I only just came back on today as have been far too ashamed to show my mug around these parts:o

You and me both Natty - I'm always up to spending mischief when I disappear from the forum.

Natty - we need to try and encourage each other my lovely, we can do better!!

I've just tidied all of my accounts and managed to scrape together 12.09 to OP with. That's about it for this month. All other spare money has been spent on ice cream, sweets, clothes, bags, days out, school uniform, karate lessons, cleaner, karate outfits X 2 (DH and DS1), thai food, fish and chips, alcohol, scooter, new bike frame............

A monthly OP of £12.09 will not help me on my way to financial freedom anytime soon!!!!!!
