In my fuddle mind what about trying this for Barclays

    Example

Barclays need 100.00 a month to qualify for 0% interest

    Step change only allow 85.00

can you find the difference of 15.00 to qualify and pay this amount directly to them. So you selfmanage the difference?

It's the opposite problem, Alice needs to pay less to get the interest frozen but Stepchange don't allow for this unfortunately!

    Hi Alice,

I think you have 2 problems here..

    1. You must insist that your creditors correspond to you in writing only otherwise you have no evidence.

    and

    2. The payment you are giving to BC is this nearly at the normal minimum payment?

I think you need to complain again in writing to BC including the word complaint and state correspondence in writing only and then once they respond if not happy complain to FOS. You can do that bit online, of course there is no guarantee they are going to be able to assist due to the high payment you are giving BC (as it may look like you can afford it and are out of financial difficulties)

Obviously if you were to go self managed you could drop the payments to BC and have that £50 each month for your budget/savings etc.. The debt would reduce at the same speed it is now but without paying silly interest...and your savings would grow...!

Sorry I don't think without a paper chain of complaint letters I don't think you can move onto the FOS.

Good Luck whatever way you decide to do it..

    Right nagging over..:D

    Love Puzz. x

Just to complicate matters on the statement under 'your payment plan' apparently I have agreed to pay £124.83 per month. But on our DMP on stepchange the payment is £120. The payment amount has recently been increased to £120 because one of our debts has been paid off, so there is more money to put towards the other debts.

I will write to bcard insisting that they put in writing the reasons why they won't reduced the interest charges.

  • This morning I spoke to stepchange, apparent £124.83 is the new month payment figure.

I have written another complaint to bcard again, requesting a copy of the correspondence they sent to stepchange. Also asked them to reconsider the interest charges.

If no joy there I will write to FOS. (Thanks Puzz).

Later this afternoon we have received an email from stepchange explaining that bcard have advised that they won't be reducing the interest (as requested in my first letter). Funnily enough they suggest writing to them again and if no joy write to FOS. (Same a Puzz). They did say they have 6 weeks to respond.

Other news spent £33 in supermarket tonight, mostly stuff for packed lunches tomorrow, pizzas for tea (DS2s friend staying over) and toiletries (had to get hair stuff, can't live without it...sorry!)

Put £50 towards DSs trip home.

Got 2 loads ready to peg out tomorrow, mainly heavier stuff, and other bits in airing cupboard and airer.

Next week is half term so extra childcare to pay for, but have got day of as we have a birthday to celebrate (soon but going to celebrate in half term) DS going to take a few friends bowling and then food. Not an official party, and hoping to do it in the afternoon when it's cheaper.;)

Have a great time BB, isn't it funny how it's cheaper in half term, not complaining, everything is usually twice the price in the holidays.:)

  • We are in the 15k's. Current balance £15,888.:D

This has cheered me up a bit, feeling a bit frustrated at the mo. The extra childcare this week has wiped our emergency fund out (still got DSs flight money but don't want to dip into that).

OH has had a statement from PRA re MBNA card, it's £11 more than we have on our DMP but will worry about that at the end. I'm not going to change any figures.

Had a letter from 3 re mobile, yes it's going up to £30 per month. Will need to sort that out!

Upto 6 NSDs. Need to get petrol tomorrow. Struggling with DS3s packed lunches this week, he needs extra snacks whilst he's at holiday club....I'm running out of ideas, and food.

Meal plan going ok so far, will just about empty freezer by the weekend so will defrost it. Trouble is will cost a small fortune to fill it up again.:o

Managed to get 4 loads pegged out and just about dried over the weekend (sorry you didn't brizzle), stood last night and ironed the lot.

Need to update spending diary/budget tonight.
