PS. I am still surrounded by acres of washing drying on racks..no chance of a pegging out occuring here..but in better news it only took me 3 minutes instead of the usual 10 to get the chickens in the coop :rotfl: They are fed up with the rain too and dutifully trooped in

You should see me normally...you'd have a laugh...slipping about in the mud

  • Hi Alice

Glad your Xmas and New Year went well.

It's nice to get all organised again though.

You are doing well on the NSD's. I have joined the Ninja Saving Turtles and one of the challenges is 21 NSD:eek:. I am on 4 at the moment with today looking like 5 - it's really helping me not buy things at lunch time and to instead take things from home to eat.

Hope you get all the birthday cards and presents - so much easier to do it all in one go!!

Thanks EE, although we've had a fab time it is nice to get back to 'normal'.

I don't go into the town very often so I do like to stock up on bday cards etc. whe. I do go in, went to the card factory, they are so expensive from the supermarket.

Thisweek I've been very organised and have taken my own lunch everyday. At work some many buy their lunch or go to the pub, I don't know how they do it.:)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Sock it to them Alice..can SC help? They really need to lower that interest some more/suspend it entirely

And all this nicey nicey first names boll&cks is no doubt maddening too..

I have calmed done now brizzle. The thing that is frustrating me is when I called to ask about the interest, they denied any knowledge of our DMP and asked for proof and copy of budget from step change, then they send a letter saying we broke the agreement for reducing the payments during last summer.ggggrrrrrr

All Stepchange suggested is that I write to Bcard and ask them to reduce the interest.....which I have done. Think I will write to them again and point about....again....that they denied any knowledge of the agreement blah blah blah.

  • Did meal plan and have been to supermarket, spent £62 but that does include some toilet roll/cleaning stuff/toiletries, and some new baking tins.

Called into see the oldies on the way back, dropped them off some bits and pieces.

I've calmed down now about Bcard, but I'm not going to give up. Will write to them again......no harm in trying.

Have done meter readings are we are £40 in credit.

    Still on 4 NSDs.

  • I can't help wondering if you have been caught in a 'policy' change.

I think I have mentioned before that, in my experience, Bcard only suspend all interest if people are paying £1 or £5 per month - any more than that and they just reduce the interest slightly.
I think before you were paying quite a high amount and all interest was frozen which surprised me but then they may work differently for people with S-change.

I wonder if the reduced payment has triggered a review and they have decided that you should only have the interest reduced and not completely frozen as before - the problem is that within debt management they will change the way they work whenever they want so what was policy a few years ago may be different now.

I can't help thinking s-change should be doing more to help.
The problem is that they won't mind that your DMP will take longer as they still 'earn' money from you (in that the creditors pay S-change a % of what they pay them from the people in the DMP).

Could you write to the complaints team at Barclaycard - if you head it complaint they have to deal with it in so many days. I made a complaint on behalf of someone at work (it wasn't a complaint as such, more a request for a refund and other issues) and within 2 days I had a phone call and within another few days I had a 2 page response and another phone call.

If the complaints team deal with it you actually get a proper person who understands the system and won't fob you off like the people on the phone do.

Good suggestion from EE.. worth a try?

Also agree that SC seem to leave a lot to you..surely they should be more proactive?

  • Thank you EE and grizzle

I had hoped that SC would be a bit more helpful. When I've called SC regarding this bcard issue their usual response is along the lines of 'it is what it is' or try contacting them, nothing really supportive.

When we first started this journey SC were really helpful and saved me from a lot of grief, but as time has gone on I've found it can be quite frustrating.

I am going to write a letter of complaint EE. I've just done our DMP review online and with our DFD still Jan 2019 and will probably be later than that, I've got to do anything I can to get this debt paid off.

Ive had a really hectic few days at work. Sunday was a potter about day, did a few jobs around the house and outside. Sunday was NSD 5.

Monday and today have been NSDs so now up to 7...whoop whoop.

Tomorrow need to pay for school trip £8.50.

OH had gone over on his minutes on his mobile. Phone bill was £52 instead of £21. Since we changed to EE and no longer have 'free' calls in week on the landline (on free at weekends now) we have been using.....and occasionally going over on our mobile minutes, usually just by a few pence.

Have had the heating on yesterday and tonight (4.00pm until 8.30pm). Really hope we don't get snow.

    Hi Alice,

With regards to BC, unfortunately they are allowed to charge interest and tend to set an amount dependent on the level of repayment against the 'real' minimum required. Lucky for me they sold my debt on...

The only action you can really take is to write a letter to them with with word complaint in and advise them you will take it up with the FOS if they don't freeze/reduce the interest. If you don't get a satisfactory outcome you can then follow it up with a complaint to the FOS - this can be done online. Of course it doesn't guarantee any change but you can but try!

    Good Luck

Thanks Puzz, like you say it's got to worth a try. Should get a letter off to them tomorrow and if no joy will take it further.
