  • We have received a letter from our bank to advise that they have not accepted our DMP but inorder to settle our debt (£2500 overdraft over 2 accounts) please could we send them a cheque for the whole amount....................are they having a laugh if we could afford to send them a cheque for that sort of money we wouldn't be on a DMP!!! I'm not stressing over it, I thought it was quite funny. :)

DS back to 100% now. We made some gingerbread men last night with some gingerbread dough I had picked up reduced to 40p (should of been £2), they are actually quite nice.

    Better get on.xx

  • Hey Alice, just thought I would drop by and see how you are doing ! Congrats for getting to the end of your first month, and still feeling pretty calm and chilled , we are ending our first month too and all in all things have gone well, as you say feeling less stressed with the odd minor blip .

The letter from the bank made me laugh , we have had a few of those ! Does make your wonder though doesnt it, whether they have actually bothered to read your letters befoer sendign that to you !

Glad DS is back on top form. Enjoy the gingerbread men ! Have you got some of those icing pens to decorate them ? Ours end up wearing bikinis and the like !!

Loving the letter from the bank... NOT!! Silly s0ds, like you can just pull £2500 from under your mattress of something!

Keep calm like you are doing. Gingerbread dough?! Never heard of that, sounds good though xx

  • Hi Alice,

Don't the banks just make you laff :rotfl: So flippant about it - well they can't get blood out of a stone so they will just have to like it or lump it ;)

Hope you managed to sort the charger situation. I remember having a problem along these lines with a dell laptop. I can't remember what I had to do to fix it though.

Fingers crossed the washing machine is fixable :)
    Just keep swimming!
  • Pinot - We didn't get chance to put icing on them.....they got eaten!! Managed to save some for lunchboxes though. Well done to you too, that's our first month down.......just a 'few' more to go :)

Mummytogirls - The gingerbread dough was in the fridge department by the ready-to-roll pastry. It should of been £2 so a great bargain at 40p. I shall lookout for it again (but only in the reduced section!!)

Itsa -Washing machine sorted :T Didn't have much help from the company I got the charger from (on ebay) but my Dad has got a power lead which we can borrow for a bit so will get that sometime next week. I'm so addicted to coming on here everyday I can't be without laptop.

I've done budget for month, I find it so strange that there is actually money in the account after all the DDs have come out. We had been so used to living off overdraft and credit cards I'm struggling in getting used to seeing our account in credit.

Got parents evening tonight for 2 of the kids so got to dash from school to school so thinking we could pick up pizza (we've got a 50% voucher) for tea. Feel a bit guilty but I could take half of the money from groceries and half from entertainment budgets. Think it will be about £16 ish. It should be OK. xx

Hi..fantastic news about the account being in credit!! Make sure you get used to it that way!!:D

It's fine to have a few treats. And splitting it between the 2 budgets sounds really sensible..

    Have a great weekend

  • My shoes have broken :(, the flat shoes I use for walking into school and walking at lunchtime. Is the moulded bit at the back has come apart, well they are years old. I'm thinking we could just put a big piece of tape across the heel bit on the inside and that will hopefully stop it digging in me. Sounds a bit trampy I know but apart from that they are fine.

One of OH CCs has accepted DMP which is great. Our bank has closed the accounts (think they are sulking because [STRIKE]I woundn't[/STRIKE] couldn't write them a cheque for £2500. Have sorted budget for month, hopefully we can cut back on petrol this month as we've got both cars to tax at the end of Feb

No sign of the snow yet.xx

  • At least the kids are pleased we've had snow!!

Today should be a NSD. Spent £57.68 at supermarket and £13.50 at the butchers. We've got a voucher for A1di which doesn't run out until next Friday so I will take a trip there at the end of this week. Bus money sorted, OH got his paper and lottery money and I've got about £2 in my purse. I wonder if I can stay away from the cashpoint until Thursday (childerminder pay day).

Off for a play in the snow.xx

The joy of small things. Not that long ago I would have automatically gone to the cash point if I only had £2 in my purse..now it seems like a challenge!!

    Have a good week hon!

    Hi Alice,

Boo to the shoes breaking . Your comment about fixing them made me laugh to myself as my handbag broke before Christmas and I had to staple it back together . Worked for another 6 weeks though until I got round to replacing it :money:.

Im glad the kids are happy re the snow. Weve been out sledging this morning too :T xx
