Hi Alice, I just wanted to say thank you for doing your diary! I have read from start to finish and it has inspired me to get to grips finally and sort out our own financial pickle! You have also made me more aware of hanging out my washing :). Well done for not giving up you sound like a very organised person! ... Also got my fingers crossed for your car!

  • Thanks Linkypie and gillst, unfortunately the car did fail. Tyres, brakes and a suspension arm thing. We knew one of the tyres was borderline but had arranged to swap the spare just to get through the MOT. We need a further 2 tyres too.

Total bill £330, we haven't got that amount in the pot so I/we have decided to call step change and we're going to ask if we can reduce next months payment. I'm not happy about it but I can't think of anything else. The oil needs changing too. Going to shop around for this, they've quoted £85!

The car isn't been picked up until Thursday when OH gets paid.

I feel very frustrated tonight, we....I have got to get a grip of our finances. Can't wait until the end of the week when I get paid and I feel that we can start again!! :o

Thank you and well done Lottie for reading my ramblings. You've noticed my secret obsession with pegging out. :o:rotfl:
I'm not so sure I'm that organised, perhaps just a bit too bossy.;)

Good luck on your journey, have you started a diary?

Oh no about the car :( ! We are quite lucky with cars as my brother fixes most things for us! I know what you mean about payday and starting a fresh! I can't wait to get started on July but don't want to wish this week of sunny weather away either! Hope you find a cheaper quote for the oil. I think you have done amazingly well so far managing to stick to budget and rearrange things, I am sure it is going to take me ages to try and figure out the amounts needed for different things!

I have started a diary but it isn't very interesting or inspiring! Hoping once I get going properly it will give me some focus and keep my mind on track!

Hi Lottie, that's great that you've got a 'handy' brother.:). I'm going to ring round about the oil change, surely I can get it cheaper.

I've found having this diary has really helped keep me on the straight and narrow. Good luck on your journey.

  • Today was another NSD....although no idea how many we've had this month! :o

Tonight I've done 2 loads of washing ready to peg out tomorrow, sorted all the paperwork on the side......nearly missed a school trip! And have ironed the washing that dried yesterday and done an online shop at t3sc0 to come tomorrow night.:)

OHs pay day tomorrow and we can pick the car up. Paying for the car and shopping and a DD due tomorrow just about uses up all OHs wages.:o

Will have to pay for school trip and childcare on Friday this week. We've got the money to pay our works lottery money tomorrow. I've also got to pay £5 to a collection at work....that will have to wait til Friday too.

Thanks brizzle, trying to keep plodding on.

Shopping came, a bit disappointed to be honest, got everything I ordered but just didn't seem a lot for the money. OH got a voucher for @ldi from a colleagues newspaper so will go there over the weekend.

Picked car up today. Also found a garage to do the oil change cheaper, it's booked in next week.

DS has asked to borrow some money. He has a job in a cafe in town but he gets paid monthly so will get him some cash tomorrow when I get paid.

Need cash for collection at work, a present to a party DS3 has been invited to on Saturday, pay childcare and pay for school trip.

    Roll on the weekend. :)
