Recommended car hire in Alicante, Spain

Hello all,
I am looking to hire a car for a week in Alicante over the new year period and have found some really cheap deals which frankly seems too good to be true as the hire cost equates to almost the cost of a full tank.
Then I started to see complaints about the fuel policies and how many people being "conned" as such by companies charging silly amounts for a full tank of fuel on arrival. Is this rife or do most companies charge pump price?
Can anybody recommend a decent car hire company that has a full-full fuel policy and also has decent excess waiver. I don't want to get caught out with fuel policies and hidden charges on arrival.

if you look on Bravocarhire you can see all the different car companies listed with their t & Cs listed so you can see what you are getting. we went with Solmar a couple of years ago who offered full-full but don't know if that is still the same now. If you use the broker Carjet they offer zero excess but you have to pay insurance for wheels etc if you want to be covered for them0

Thanks for that, it seems that Solmar has a full-empty fuel policy now. - eems that everybody is doing it. If anyone could recommend anything that would be great.0 -

Just done a search on Holiday Autos site for a week 29/12-5/10 there are many cars to choose from, the cheapest 4 door Corsa is £85 but with full-empty on fuel, the next Corsa is a 4door diesel at £150 but with full-full fuel. Alamo, Hertz, Europcar and Avis seem to have full-full but again you are going to be looking at £130 upwards for a week.
Excess for any damage is likely to be around €600 or more and can be waived for possibly €10 a day if bought at the rental desk or £3 a day if purchased from the UK prior to leaving, from a company like insurance 4 car hire or similar.0 -
I can recommend Record ,use them 3/4 times a years
You will struggle to get a full-full fuel policy for a week ,most of them only do it for hire of 3 days or lessHave a nice day0 -
Try Sixt in the airport, they have a full/full policySave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000

Thanks for all your responses, will take a look at these. I've hired cars in Europe many times but it's been a few years since I've hired in Spain and it's the first time I've had this problem.0

At all costs AVOID GOLDCAR0

I've used "Amigo Auto" and Easycar, both ok. I also used AVIS in another spanish airport, no problems either. Just make sure what it says about the petrol, Avis was pick up full, return full, which in my opinion is fair, the other systems are not fair as the tank is never empty when you return it...0

can anyone recommend a car hire company that doesn't have full to empty fuel policy at alicante airport.
thanks in advance0 -
We need to rent a 7 seater with plenty of luggage space in Alicante. Argus (through car rentals) offer a Merc Vito for £318 (no excess) but at the bottom of the booking form there's a default request to buy excess insurance cover. Does the "no excess" cover everything, or should I buy the insurance?
Also, the terms say I have to pay for a full tank of petrol on pickup and return it empty - no refund for any unused. I've read other threads on here about the inflated price you pay for this. Do any of the hire companies have a "collect and return with a full tank" policy.0
