Have a wonderful time out there2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Afternoon
Quick catch up - slow pulled pork last night - German friends over for dinner and 5 litres of wine - in a box - purchased but, surprisingly, good quality - for 8 euros Mr T was a little slow this morning. Thankfully there were loads of people drinking not just Mr T. Pork was 9 euros for 2.5kg - not organic as I haven't found an organic butcher yet but very tasty. Served with three different salads so simple, cheap and plentiful. Bit weird eating with a fan on outside but it was still 25 degrees at midnight so definitely helpful.
Church this morning (mainly English) and meeting Portuguese and South African friends tonight. I love the blend of nationalities and am extremely grateful that English is one of the main business languages. Whilst I can cope in one foreign language, I struggle (big time) with Portuguese
Tomorrow we join the local running group for a 'walk' early in the morning. Breakfast on the beach afterwards.
Meeting up with Norwegian friends on Wednesday night at a local restaurant and Thursday having a Brazilian BBQ with Dutch chums. I cannot begin to articulate how happy I/we are here. The air smells gorgeous and it really is the simple pleasures of life that matter.
I've spent time this afternoon thinking back over our MFW journey and I am so grateful for all the advice shared willingly on the forum.
There is no way we would be in this position without it
Right I think it's time for a bottle of water.

It's raining :eek
UK is having a heatwave and we've transported the rain here.
Picnic dinner this evening - fridge surprise
Went to a sushi restaurant for lunch - owned by a Russian guy who worked out in Angola. Quit his job, went to train then opened up a restaurant. Only a small place but good turnover of tables. Excellent quality and DS who is a sushi lover had a field day. €14.50 per person so expensive for here but well worth it.
Love the multi cultural vibe
Ironing may be looking at me but I am studiously ignoring it.

I don't like sushi. That's why we discovered fire, so we didn't have to eat raw fish any more .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0"Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0 -
Get a basement. Easier to ignore it :rotfl:.

I have successfully ignored ironing :T
I may just have purchased three 3 litre bottles of extra virgin olive oil.
@MuddyWhiteChicken - do you want me to bring you any EV olive oil back. @brizzle do you want any?
Gallygirl, DS visited the sushi buffet 10 yes 10  times. He got into the car and announced he needed a nap :rotfl:
Just had a walk round the garden. Planning what to do first when we arrive. I am beside myself with excitement.
Quiet day tomorrow and DS and I are off to the beach first thing. Collecting a skirt from the local alteration lady - beautiful quality skirt from CS - 1' taken off as DS is a petit girlie - 4 euros.
Off out with Norwegian contingent tomorrow night. I am also surprising myself with ordering most things in Portuguese. Even when they respond in English I'm sticking to my guns. I may be bl@@dy useless but at least I persevere.

Lovely swim in the sea and salmon, tomatoes and French bread for lunch. I've had a sort out of garden brollies and we need to buy 2. We use them on the beach and garden. As we have people using the house until late October, I need to be better prepared.
Ironing still being ignored but at least one top needs to be done otherwise I won't be going out for dinner.
Off on a boat trip tomorrow morning. It visits a few caves and gives you time to have a swim in the sea. Good fun. Out for lunch then to Dutch chums for a BBQ. I know that's going to be a long night and I've offered to drive.
Some of the conversations about the referendum have been difficult. I voted Remain and can't come up with any explanation for our mainland Europe chums. It does sound as though all of them think Brussels is too powerful and that countries should rally to get major reform. Easier said than done but it's definitely the way forward. Having a PM with the skills to build bridges with these countries, enabling the UK to be an enabler of change would have been perfect.
Anyway, it's blinking hot and a nap before socialising is required.
