  • What a morning. Bookcase in dining room emptied, sorted, decluttered and cleaned. Just waiting for Mr T to look through his books and then it's complete. Some books to go to Portugal.

Tackled the bottom half of a display cabinet including drawers. Box of glasses for charity shop, cocktail glasses for Portugal. Cat plates for CS. I'll do the top half of the unit tomorrow.

I have a sideboard to work through too - will be ruthless. Will I be ruthless enough I wonder.

I'm thinking about stereo units, speakers etc. Will consult with Mr T, I have no clue.

    Best wishes Tilly x x

Well done on the mortgage AND decluttering progress!

I'm trying to gear up to start a major declutter including furniture!

 How weird is that? I bought THESE this morning in burgundy :D. So pretty and sparkly - you know, in that sunshine thing ;). I decided a few weeks ago that if I write a book it will be called 'Posh Frocks and Flip Flops' :rotfl:.

I'm enjoying hearing about Tilly's de-cluttering - it's shocking how much Stuff we all have.

Even though I've finished the main de-cluttering, I'm still finding oddments to go.

  • I'm now wondering whether I should sell on the bay of e, FB or just charity shop everything. By this evening the display cabinet will be finished, leaving me the sideboard, CDs plus a small chest of drawers containing table cloths. OK, no one needs that many table cloths, I know :)

I'm giving clothes from DS to a lad we know, slightly younger than DS. DS sorted through his wardrobe again today and chucked more stuff out. He has to stop growing soon :rotfl:

Our bedside tables seem to become messy very quickly. I've resorted mine inside and cleaned the tops of both. There's now a pile of stuff to be rehomed/chucked.

Right stereo discussion - 16 years ago, yes that long - Mr T bought a really good stereo system - cassette :rotfl:, CD, tuner. However it rarely gets played. Why do we keep it - well partly to play LPs, very very very occasionally. DS has a speaker system thing, two small speaks and one round box thing (boy you can see I'm knowledgable) that he no longer uses, plus a mini stereo system both of which are now in the garage. I thought the speaker thing would be good for Portugal, then visitors can plug their iPad/pods in - good sound quality. Mr T cleared his CDs shortly after starting my diary and sold loads - however we still have around 80 that never get played. Plus DVDs - can we get DVDs put onto PC and streamed to a smart TV? Maybe I should post a question on the techie board but they can be rather scary

Sorry that was a large paragraph of noise but hopefully you can see we are looking to streamline/declutter.

I'd better go and make the dinner.

    Have a good night, Tilly x x

Also pleased re rise in the Rent a Room allowance..doesn't take effect until next April tho.

Wonder if some people will use to raise rents? I know I kept our lodgers fixed for a second year as little point in increasing, and she is pleasant enough and helps out in a few ways eg. Looking after crooks when we are away but would think about small increase next. It will also make me think about having 2 students in summer although that is harder work and having to all bunk up is already driving me quietly mad!
