You've done well by your kids Tilly. I can't help but think back to a conversation from yesterday with a work colleague whose 19 year old has just bought a £15k new car!

Ha! Suffice to say that they probably don't read MMM then - plus the comments on his latest post of 'what folks would tell their 19 yr old selves to do differently........' :)

Whilst I'm not surprised that DS does his own ironing ;) I think the decision he's made to set out saving 50% of his income from the get go is  and deserves a :T

'Team Tilly' has made great advances, and moved a mountain of a mortgage :T Congratulations to you all and Thank you for showing us that it can be done - with no loss of fun, flair and elan for life as you have done so :D

What's for dinner tonight then? :D

  • :j:j budget has meant we can earn up to £7.5k pa having a lodger and no tax - need to read up on that.

Dinner tonight - I've no idea - if DS has good news, it could be HM pizza - we know how to live :rotfl:

I'm off to weed the veggie beds.

I know, means giving serious thought to a lodger doesn't it?
Am wondering if we could put a studio in above one of the barns? Mr Watty suggests costing it so its going into the long term mix plans here.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

  • Lots of teens of my acquaintance are gambling in a big way and parents are tearing their hair out. So easy to do online. Glad your hasn't succumbed.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Teenagers gambling !!! Crikey, mine wouldn't be able to walk if I found them doing that.

Funnily enough as I was watching the Budget I thought of you Tilly!

Lots of my young male work pals gamble. Scarily normal. :(

I can't believe you were paying £45 per day interest

I so love this diary and I'm so pleased for you.

Cannot imagine the £45 per day interest! We now pay less than that per month, for which I am very grateful.

  • Afternoon, looking back it's hard to believe our daily interest was so high - however, once we switched, the difference was :j. I'm glad I stuck with having a diary and kept posting. It's only this year when I've not been too good health wise, that I haven't posted each day. It really does keep the focus going. Once we started both OPing and saving in the offset the £ in interest started to plummet.

Looking back it was a big help when Mr T was made redundant :). At the time it seemed a catastrophe but we really did learn to live solely on one salary.

Right - good news - DS has the job offer :j:j. Great hours which means he can still go to church. This really surprised and pleased us as he wasn't prepared to miss church.

Friends round tonight for a BBQ, trip to C@stco done, meat marinating and Mr T is making shishtawook shortly.

    Good luck to Mr Murray.
