  • Evening, maybe I should start a new diary once the mortgage is cleared. Will need to think about this as I am quite attached to it.

Alchemilla - world domination :rotfl: I'd better stick to financial independence :)

Mr E - I haven't. cooked PD for ages and it was a request from DS when I mentioned I had cream to use up. It really is delicious I agree.

He has sent his applications in - fingers crossed. It would definitely be good for him to be working. He's said he'll save half of whatever he earns. Let's see if he sticks to that.

I'm hoping that the £97k disappears rapidly :rotfl: Once the old endowment pays out that will leave us on track to clear in August :T. We are definitely buying properties after that as Mr Ts pension provision is poor. Mr T is 50 in three years and we want to have a passive income well before that. Our savings will ramp up as soon as the mortgage is gone and using the MSE calculator, it made more sense to clear the mortgage than save.

Sorry, I didn't mean to waffle on quite so much - it's really hit me that we are close. OK I do understand £97k is still a way to go but August is so close :j:j:j

    Pork smells delicious :)

  • We found that we were saving more than our mortgage payment every month once the last payment had been made because our thrifty ways just stayed with us. So the next part of the plan should happen quite quickly.

I feel a bit of an interloper on this thread, but like you, I am attached to my diary and like to keep following others so I am sticking around!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

    Congratulations on getting below £100K!

As someone who is just starting out with a mortgage in the £340s, I read your diary with real interest and, like others, find what you have done inspiring.

I hope you continue with your diary once you achieve your goal as, every time I despair at the size of the mortgage, it reminds me that it is possible I will pay this off and be able to retire whilst I'm still young!

  • Morning, thanks for your posts :) Looks like I'll be staying here then.

Had an experience yesterday - thers's a hedge outside our dining room window which is a haven to bees. It is teeming with them. I decided it would be sensible to cut down the daffs, which flower at the base as they had died off now. I cut and tidied and not once did a bee stop their endeavours to check me out :). Firstly I'm pleased to have tidied it up but I'm delighted to be a stop to so many bees on their food gathering journey. Mr T and I stood and watched to see which way they travelled afterwards as well - lovely.

We have planted more coriander, flat leaf parsley and salad leaves, plus a few more potatoes :T

Dinner this evening is fish frittata pie - GH recipe which I saw in a 2013 magazine at the hospital and then hunted on line for the recipe.

I've a call with my health insurer to take advantage of private physio. I'm receiving inconsistent advice from the hospital which is concerning and frustrating.

I'd better get going, I'm due to walk the hounds with DD.

    Best wishes Tilly x

I'm not sure what I'll do when we are done as I'll really miss posting.

Keep posting to inspire the rest of us, you already have with Tillytidies and it would be very selfish to deny us all your wisdom x

That is amazing, I hadn't realised your MF day was so close, I am so happy for you. :j

    Hello

Just popping out of lurkdom to say congrats on sub-£100k and to encourage you to keep on keeping a diary.

I don't keep my diary anymore, I wasn't very good at it! But I still log on at least 3 times a week for inspiration from others.

Your diary was one of the first I read and together with others (NewGIrly, CathT, EarthGirl, GallyGirl, Billy (who is rarely around these days) I caught the bug - my mortgage interest was over £35 per day when I joined, it fell as low as £3.10 per day but then I sold the flat and bought the big family home and it rose, but only to £12.50 per day. I wouldn't be where I am now without all the tips, tricks and encouragement from all of the 'stalwarts' of the MFW board.

So, please keep on keeping a diary - maybe BTL MFW?
    Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:
    Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44
    Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.10
  • Morning, I'm not sure where yesterday went

I'm working on increasing my steps per day - walking with DD and using WiiFit. I also played a relaxation piece when I went to bed and slept like a log :T

Free tickets to see Spy tonight :)

Dinner last night was made by DD and cost about 70p each - mainly massively bargainous items made into a pasta salad. Finished with a few curls of Parmesan and toasted pine nuts.

On the financial front, I returned a frying pan and had a full refund. Handle became ridiculously hot and was not safe.

Although the wind hasn't gone completely, it has reduced in strength. My poor broad beans were being battered about, even though they are well supported.

I'm off to do some physio, then call my health insurers who are driving me mad.

    Best wishes, Tilly x x

  • Morning, I won't bore you by taking you through my health insurance battle, suffice to say after three days, 11 calls, I'm now going to the right place, for the right treatment. I'm not impressed but finally found someone who considered the customer.

    Well done Mr Murray :T

Spy was FAB - language a bit rich but hysterical film.

Busy day ahead and a bit tight on time on occasions. Fingers crossed it all works.

£10.50 OP, 7p Tilly Tidied to MOS.

House insurance due in a month, research needed.

Salad leaves are doing brilliantly - DS is *loving* this :rotfl: He likes meat, with extra meat on the side :)

Wardrobe sorted - 5 carrier bags of stuff to go. I definitely asked myself whether at item gave me joy or not :). Should I Eb@y, FB or donate to charity shop? Not MSE at all but I'm leaning towards CS.

Jobs for today - empty and rehome airing cupboard contents; sort dinner for this evening; 2 x washing; empty and load DW; sort scarf drawer (crikey how pretentious that sounds :o); empty, clean and sort bathroom cupboards; speak to Spanish MSEer :T

Cup of tea time - hope the sun is shining.
