This means that should one of us lose our job, then we could stop OPs and manage on one salary. Seemed like the most sensible option.

Yes, makes sense. Hope for the best, plan for the worst ;) very wise.

Ps, you've not mentioned anything about FD placing thresholds on the OPs that they allow, so I'm guessing that means they don't have any?

Two glasses of wine mind, and I am now all over the place. Not drinking for so long has meant I have little tolerance to alcohol so I am now going to snuggle down and listen to radio 4 extra - yep the Tilly household know how to rock with the best of them :) Night, Tilly x

Lol Tilly, i had just been about to ask how you felt after your wine after not having any for a while. Sounds like you and OH had a lovely evening and very well deserved too

I totally agree with your thoughts and other posts re your colleague living in the moment, might be interesting to know what his definition of that is ;)

  • Hi Caz, I asked FD when we first spoke to them and indicated that we would be looking to clear it quickly - I was a bit concerned about being that honest but they were great. We can OP as much as we like - well as much as we can afford :)

Our aim for 4/8/16 is certainly challenging but both DH and I work with targets/goals every day, so it seemed sensible to follow a work approach. Fingers, toes, arms, legs crossed.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

What's happened to the weather? We took the dog for a run at about 9pm last night and the sky was so clear, it was lovely to see the stars which are normally hidden with the light pollution.

This morning we had planned to clean the conservatory roof but I don't fancy going outside in this, so will be doing the ironing first thing. It's pouring with rain.

I think someone has swapped my DH for someone else overnight - he has just emptied the airing cupboard and is sorting it out and putting the contents away - I can't ever recall him doing that. :T

Nothing else on the cards right now. I will have to update my signature once I have checked the FD accounts next week, so that I can show the true outstanding balance. It should be around £287k as we are keeping £2.5k back for a job at home.

I can see £275k on the horizon now.

    Have a good day all.

That's great news. That's what I'm finding most challenging about Santander actually. They don't allow the smaller payments. FD don't state a threshold on their website, but I thought I'd check to be sure :) 7 months to go til we can join you! :rotfl:

  • Hi Caz, without exception the Spanish bank got every OP wrong. Whether it was £500, £1k etc. they always changed the monthly amount, even though I wrote, called etc and asked them not to. I said in letters, they were capital OPs - what a nightmare. Now I can OP what and when I like.

On Friday morning when the switch took place I seriously felt as though a weight had gone :j:j:j

  • Just worked out that since November when starting the diary, we have paid off £25k of the millstone. Just goes to show how much money was being wasted before.

Figures in signature to be updated early next week.

Ha ha, I got caught out with the rain too... I washed some sheets and towels yesterday evening and put them out to dry overnight (so I could sleep in if I wanted to!) and they got wet.

Have thrown in the towel (groan!!!) and gave them a quick spin and put them in the TD. I have another load of clothes on now, so they can dry on the airers.

So pleased to hear how you are going with the mortgage! You guys should feel really proud of yourselves.

I am totally amazed at how you are tackling such a big mortgage. Its inspiring. And to aim to have it cleared so soon wow is all i can say!
Once my kids are in senior school I will be looking to do more working hours. This will mean my benefits go down but I will be able to do as much OT as poss.

For once i didnt leave my washing out overnight and was relieved when i heard it raining. I do have more to get dry though, cannotwait for the warm weather, it puts in a better mood and gives me more energy.

    Good luck Tilly x

My washing had a nice shower whilst I was at the dreaded spanish bank paying in some cheques :(

Luckily only a light shower so able to finish off inside. Today tho! :( Pouring down with rain.
