I love my job as a SW consultant so I'd never give it up, but it's really made me focus on what I and OH actually want.

That's definitely what this forum is all about - always something to think about and share

Quite frankly this tends to Mr T rather than me in terms of purchase but the end result is still the same - jars, pots, bottles to use up
I'm loving the extra room in the fridge door though :T

We going through this at the moment too. DH loves condiments and our fridge and cupboard looks like a Wa!trose shelf for the sheer variety of sauces and flavours most of the time, although there is a very high concentrate of chilli sauces there, it is looking much better currently
Hi Tilly,
Oh, where to begin! I think it was mostly down to sheer determination really!

All the best with your new adventure.....I wish you all the luck in the world :T :T

Thank you for sharing Westie, really great to hear how others have done it and helps to inspire me with other ideas for things I've not tried before. Well done, enjoy your well earned time.
My former employer used to pay expenses within 3 days of submission and approval (and I could choose a different account for them to be paid into) so it is definitely possible. My current employer takes up to 6 weeks as it's payment with the following salary payment, very frustrating as I know they have the ability to pay more often but refuse to change the system. I therefore try to use the corporate card where possible, but fuel bills I have to cover myself and claim back.brizzledfw wrote: »Tilly...do get Mr T to talk to new employer re expenses...that's not great. Ours pay within 10 days of receipt which if you are fairly prompt works out well, no reason why everyone can't do the same.
Tilly - re your CAP involvement. Our church used to have a CAP centre, but had to close it 2 years ago. It's an awesome charity and really helps a huge number of people. I understand your position on praying for people I find it difficult to pray out loud in front of people, but if you are able to do it then great. As long as they're not pushing it onto people and making them feel uncomfortable then I see no problem with it.
Sounds like you've been really busy over the last couple of weeks and achieved loads, great job

Hi WelshLassie, lovely to see you posting. I definitely have some stuff in the fridge which will never get used as poor choices and I think they'll be chucked in the bin
Early days re CAP. I have some skills which may be useful with their job seeking side and am discussing stuff with them. I really would not be prepared to pray out loud with people who are not practising Christians - nor do I think people should be made to pray. I don't think that makes me a bad person or any less a Christian as its down to choice. Could be some fun discussions ahead potentially :rotfl:
I may know more tonight about expenses. I think it may be a timing problem and you need to make sure you submit in one window to guarantee payment in the next. Sounds like he just missed first window and was at the very beginning of the next so the wait is longer. Once he's squared away the existing claims, all will be well and now he is checking when to submit for prompt payment.

Hi Brizzle, well the ironing is down to 3 items but didn't have time to finish before work and unlikely I CBAd to do it tonight.brizzledfw wrote: »Tilly..hope you are having a productive day for you and yours x
2 lots of washing done and dried in the TD - it has poured today, not quite non stop but not far off. I hope your weather is better than ours.
I need to stop in a while to prepare the peppers for dinner and Mr T has just called to give me his travel schedule for next week. He will definitely be WFH 2 days which is fab.
I'll pop over and find your diary - need to see if there's anything been added to the savings pots

I've never added fennel to a fish dish so will try that next week and switch the fish pie recipe. Sorry for being a muppet but do you cook the pasta first? I may have to miss that out though as I don't have any and would mean buying more pasta.Thistlewhistle wrote: »Hi Tilly,
Never thought of doing crème fraîche in the fish pie. How foolish of me! And dill would really pick it up.
It was my own recipe - just onions, fennel and peppers sweated down, 2 fish stock pots, and 4 bay leaves, then poach all the fish in the liquid until done.
Put in a pie dish (and one for the freezer!) and pour the liquid over. Then a layer of macaroni pasta to soak up the stock and bulk out.
Top with mashed potato.
It comes out quite creamy without the crème fraîche but with, it'd be highly deluxe!!!
Tx
You wouldn't want to use dill with fennel IMO but someone may come along and disagree. I'll give it a go.
Overall I'm more conscious of the fat I use to cook now and apart from some dishes, like last night's dinner which required the oil and vinegar to be part of the sauce, have cut right back.
Loving the recipe sharing by the way

Abandoned meal plan. Pasta, cheese and a jar of pesto. Washed down with 1/2 bottle of wine. So far. It's called comfort food for a reason - it comforts

PS feel a bit sick now :rotfl:.
PPS - eating one of Mr GG's kitkats :cool:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
