  • Evening, thanks for dropping by TattyCath and Habibiboo - it is lovely to have more energy:)

Sadly, I ended up on calls this evening and couldn't walk. To make up for it, we're walking early tomorrow and I'm working from home so can catch up at lunchtime too.

    NSD achieved.

Toad in the Hole was lush - definitely have to make up the miles :rotfl:

£33.60 is now payable with TCB however I have to pay an admin fee. Mr T is contacting them tomorrow to check whether this is the annual fee, as we didn't want to join the plus 'thing'

Right, off to bed to dream of blue skies.

Have a good day Tilly and well done on the steady amounts of walking you are building up.

Toad in the hole sounds lush. I need a fail safe recipe for the batter as last time mine sank. Any ideas?

  • Just popping in to say hello!!:D
Walking sounds fab and great to think you will have almost managed a marathon!! (distance wise)
toad in the hole sounds yummy and another query here about how you make it work with the batter!!
  • Another 2.2 miles in the bag. Off out at lunchtime for another one and again this evening. Tonight it will be just the two of us though. We're walking to see friends and not taking the hounds :T

Brizzle, I'll ask Mr T for the recipe he uses :)

Morning TYO, the secret is definitely hot fat. Make the batter an hour or so before required, I think James Martin recommends making the batter the day before, but I could be wrong.

I hadn't thought of walking in terms of a marathon, so thanks for that. I definitely could never see myself running one but I can now gauge the distance.

We're both enjoying getting back into a normal routine. I think redundancy and health problems sent us off course and it really is a delight (once we we actually out of bed and walking) to listen to the birds and see the buds on the trees changing etc.

I'd better jump in the shower and crack on. Scrambled eggs on one slice of toast for breakfast. Dinner is gammon, new potatoes, parsley sauce and whatever veg I can muster up.

    3p TT to MOS.

    Best wishes Tilly x

No more walking yesterday as work went mental and I ended up working until late last night :T

2.2 completed this morning. I'll achieve my goal of 25 by tonight :)

£110 claimed from S&S and CP, £6 claimed from PC, still not contacted TCB but will do today, so that's either £33 or £28.

    Back to work

Morning, 25.8 miles achieved by last night. It's been hard to post due to work being mental, however, it's Saturday and we're off to a wedding. DS is looking after the hounds.

Money is looking ok, but not a lot of spare cash. Still not contacted TCB will move to Monday.

No food cooking this weekend  as we have a party to go to on Sunday as well. DKs will use a HM meal from the freezer on Sunday night.

We're walking the hounds in a few minutes and I'm loving being out and about in the fresh air. I'm now on my March challenge 100 miles - I want to get this up to 120 but for now will be happy to achieve 25 per week.

There is this myth that running is the best way to get fit blah blah, the slower you go the quicker you will be in the long run. There are good ways to gradually get to jogging/running when you are feeling 100% but if you prefer to walk then you are more likely to get a positive benefit from that than running and hating it.
Completely agree with this, lots of people feel they have to run to get fit, go too fast for too short a time, and end up sore and hating it. A brisk walk at a pace where your heartbeat is raised but you can still easily hold a conversation is a great alternative; it takes a bit longer, but often that's no bad thing, and much easier on the body too.
I hadn't thought of walking in terms of a marathon, so thanks for that. I definitely could never see myself running one but I can now gauge the distance.
I'm running one at the start of next month, so five weeks to go. It's a long way, but like most things just a case of building up to it over time. Two years ago I could never see myself doing one either but twelve months later ran my first one in under four hours and hope for quicker this time round :)

  • Hi Brizzle, I'm not sure where last week went. From Tuesday the world seemed to turn upside down

Lomcevak, it's a big achievement to finish a marathon and to be training towards your second is fantastic. On a much smaller scale, just in a week I've cut my time from an hour to 45 mins and I'd like to get that closer to 35 or better still 30. This is because I'm trying to get a schedule which allows me to start work on time, without rushing like a nutter to shower, get ready, leave home etc. It's not so bad if I'm working from home.

It has been a hectic morning and we've walked, shopped, taken DD to work, made a Moroccan meal for a friend who's just about to have a baby, ironed, washed and sorted all the stuff for the wedding as we are helping out. I'm having a quiet half an hour now whilst Mr T does some of his errands.

Beautiful blue sky and sadly no time to really get stuck in to the garden. Next weekend is equally manic but after that we have some downtime.

Mum and I are sorting the date for her return tomorrow night and I'll be glad when she's here. The house is now a sick free zone :T

I hope everyone who stops by has a restorative weekend.

    Best wishes
