It's taken me a while to figure out who Mr TK is! Assume I'm right in thinking it's Tom Kerridge?

Great that Miss Tilly is getting so organised for uni already, hoping in a couple of years DS will see the light and start cooking more, perhaps once I get a new kitchen that doesn't have a scary 50s cooker:oMortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Morning, Mr TK has lost 4.5 stones last year, and I must admit I find that quite motivating.
I've spent a fair while last week reading cookery books - I'm a bit housebound and struggling to do nothing and just relax - I'm not the best candidate for that. Thanks to TattyCath I've dug out NL Kitchen and that's going to be of three books for February menu planning, along with HFW and TK.
Dinner last night was pretty fab, although I say so myself :rotfl: The remaining duck was used as a Chinese style duck/pancake starter, Tandoori chicken for main course with a large salad, naan bread and no rice, but a small veggie curry on the side. I seem to have a mountain of apples from before Xmas so made a toffee style sauce and poached the apples in it. All old apples used up and, although definitely not slimming, pretty yum.
We've got the HfW 5 root soup for lunch and then the Mr TK pork for dinner, with the slimming carrots, roasties etc.
Mr T got up to see the ISS (thanks GG) - he's been planning to do it for weeks but not got round to it. Pretty cold standing outside in a dressing gown, but he was pleased he did.
Sadly we lost another relative yesterday - not immediate family but sad nonetheless. I'm very pleased my mum was with us as it would have been very difficult for her otherwise. I'm learning a lot about families at the moment.
Yesterday's shopping - well it wasn't £15. I actually spent £90 :eek: Yes I know   However, excellent offers and the garage larder is nicely stocked up. Rice, loo rolls, minced beef, chicken, sesame oil. I had intended defrosting the freezer but I would have been mad not to buy some of the meats, so just may have made a bumper batch of mince beef and onions as a base for other dishes, plus a beautiful chicken in mint cream (creme fraiche) and tarragon chicken. Everything is chilled and will be labelled later for the freezer. Good job we've used food out of the freezer, otherwise we'd be a bit boogered :T
I wasn't up to going to church but I did manage the ironing and everything is neat and tidy. I'm off for a rest.
Have a glorious Sunday and best wishes,

I think it's more difficult getting lads to cook than girls, IMO. However, DS became interested by baking cakes. Once a few people began to give him some praise he wanted to broaden his 'range'. He's not bad at the basics but I definitely think they need a reason. He now has a GF and I think that helped :rotfl:

So sorry for your loss Tilly. ((Hugs))
Happy to be of assistance re. Getting your NL book out.
I'll let you know how the suggested recipes turn out as and when I manage to organise myself to get some herbs and stuff in. Any suggestions as to best place to shop for herbs etc? I imagine they are expensive in regular supermarket-and that they can be purchased more cheaply somewhere but not sure where. Any suggestions appreciated. TIAGE 36 *MFD may 2043
