  • MCI and Radish, Happy New Year to you and your families :)

El, still no chocolate, sweets or alcohol:)

So what did Sunday bring - Christmas decorations all down and packed away - thank you Mr T, DD and DS :). Potato and Stilton soup made and was delicious, chicken soup made and ready for lunch tomorrow.

Dinner tomorrow is pasta bake using some of the larger chunks of gammon which I froze just after Xmas. Broccoli stalks will go in it as well.

I'm having a few days off work and will be updating my address system. Does anyone know of a free software download for address labels? I want to get a bit of organising done:)

NSD in the bag and no spends due until Thursday of this week :). I have one final return to do which hopefully I will get to this week. I have a bag of sprouts which were 15p am using them in a Chinese dish on Wednesday - if I shred them I'm hoping its a little like cabbage :o

That's all for now. I will OP all the grocery budget that is not spent come payday. I had thought of using it towards our vacation but would rather OP.

Have a good week, Tilly x

I just eat them as sprouts - nom nom nom.

Never, ever giving them to Mr GG again though _pale_.

    Hi Tilly

I have been [STRIKE]stalking[/STRIKE]reading your diary for the last few months - I am not a slow reader but just read bits every few days and finally caught up. Will be attempting TT's but not til Feb as Jan is very tight.

Excuse me butting in but unless you want to do something real swish with your address labels can you not just use Microsoft Word - under Letters and Mailings is the option for Envelopes/Address labels.

Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick.

    Happy New Year!!
  • Hi EagerElephant, I'm going to put together an excel template and upload all addresses and birthdays to it, so thank you for the advice.

That's a little job to keep my busy :T

Feel free to post whenever, it's a long old journey and company along the way, along with ideas, is a real help.

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • Morning, Tilly household is slowly recovering from ill health and hospital trips :T

Today is a financial update day and all was going well until last night. We had a dinner disaster and Mr T went and bought fish and chips :(. Not good for waistline, but at least we were all fed.

Tonight is French bread pizza, as I have 4 small baguettes to use up from the freezer. Toppings will be a variety of whatever is about. I do have some sausage meat and bacon, so am going to fashion something to put on top of baguette pizza from this as well.

33p and 16p Tilly Tidy to MOS this morning. All going in the right direction.

£6 PC claimed and now in MOS.

I'm back on the 1P surveys.

Shopping list for this coming weekend is fairly small - fruit, veg and milk, so about £15 I guess. Duck confit for dinner on Friday evening which Ive been wanting to make for weeks - very much looking forward to it. Bargainous duck legs, bargainous potatoes and green veg.

I think that's all for now.

  • TooToo, I wish I was organised. There's been a lot happening the last two weeks and I'm only just coming up for air :o

However, bacon and sausage patties I made for top of baguette pizzas were lovely, so that's something else used up :T

Tom Kerridge brined pork belly for the weekend and I've remembered to take it out to thaw.

I'm starting to think of my veggies/seeds now and looking forward to planting inside soon :T. I'm also going to pop some sprouting seeds into a glass jar and get those going. Easy to grow and adds a it of life to salads in this miserable weather. Pea shoots which I planted as a test, have weathered the storm and we've had some tonight in the salad. I'm only picking the tips off to use, but good flavour.

I'm slowly closing the gap on the £12k needed to offset mortgage, as well as using endowment, however, I still want to clear this mortgage ASAP. House prices are really on the rise and it makes me both relieved as our LTV is good, and sorry, as market overheating isn't good news.

I think that's all for now. Mr T is making HM stollen bread and butter pudding for when the kids come home. Happy days.
