Hi LauraJo, I'm just having a search to see if there any sites selling netting at a good price for you.

Hi both
Down the allotment we use those 'organic' slug pellets liberally..seems to work. The blue ones.
Otherwise try a cold frame to get everything off to a huge start. Works for us

Yes you can grow salad Inside no problem if you manage it right you can have all year round salad
Slugs ... Ok this may sound disgusting but I've tried the beer traps, grapefruit etc but happened to come across ( by accident) slugs ( or at least some) are cannibals .. So I squish one and all the other slugs come running I then pick them off leaving one which I then squish and so the cycle continues ... You can also make home made slug nemotodes ... Collect several slugs ( maybe use the cannibal method) then put then in a bucket of water ( not too much) leave for a while the natural predictor of the slug multiplies ( slugs have them in their gut or something) leave for a few weeks then pour the mixture over the soil ... The nemotodes will do their job0 -
My dad has an allotment behind his house and he trawled house clearance sales collecting old net curtains. Cheap as chips and really effective as the stock of Dad's pickled cabbage, beetroot and onions in my fridge/cupboards would seem to attest!!:D
He also roped me and my brother into collecting sheep poo :shocked:from the fields up the road, with which he fills an old hessian post office sack he acquired. When lowered into a water butt and topped up with water and left for a fortnight, it makes a really cheap liquid feed.;)
He's not just a pretty face, my dad!!!:rotfl:

Hard to believe it is Thursday already. Busy day ahead, but there's no change there. It keeps me busy and at some point I will be in the sun, learning the differences to the seasons and growing fruit and veg
Massive TT OP this morning of ...................3p
I need to put the ironing away from one of the bedrooms the lodger is looking at today - who knows how it will go. Hopefully
. However as Mr T and I have quite a lot happening at the moment it would be better to find someone in July. That will mean no lodger/s almost 6 months.
Dinner this evening is quick and basic, spicy sausages, mash, greenery (not sure which yet), and hm spicy/garlic tomato sauce.
I'm off to iron three shirts now and then I'm back up to date.
No more money saving news
