    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁
  • On the day I started my diary the mortgage was £312k, so thank you for your kind wishes, it is marvellous to be beating it into submission :)

It's been a hectic day and we were up early for a drive to meet friends.

Have a good Wednesday, soon be Friday :j

Congratulations Tilly and family on that impressive reduction :T
  • Morning,

    No pennies to TT :(

Nearly at S&S next payout and very close to CP payout - loving these :)

I am hoping it's a FLW this weekend - I am finishing documenting some of the bits to sell today and then they are all ready to load up in one go :):)

Have decided on the car boot sale date - last BH in May - I hope some of the stuff goes as we can then reclaim the larder in the garage.

The family holiday may cause a delay to a MF date :(. I think by two months but that will mean pushing out to March 2016 - not feeling too happy about that but equally we are still going on the holiday. We have plenty of time to scour around for best deals etc. Will need to see how inventive we can get to close the gap.

Plus we have some additional work being done on the house, for which I currently have NO budget :o. This will be fun as the money has to be found by changing our spending habits somehow. Again a bit of inventiveness required.

I am starting to catch up with everyone's diaries this week. I'm loving seeing all the new diaries starting up - knowing how much interest this is saving is :T:T:T news. I always wonder how much we cost the banks on the MFW forum :)

    Have a fab Wednesday

    Morning Tilly,

I too, am trying to catch up with everyone. It takes some time doesn't it!!

Well done on getting your debt down by over £100K - that's amazing! If I'd done that, I'd be debt free:rotfl:

I think it's important that you enjoy your holiday - it'll leave you refreshed for more debt busting when you return. Two months is not too bad if you think that it's two months to recoup from 32 months, its a saving of two days worth of spending per month.

    Mortgage at end 05/2007: £90200

Morning Tilly, could you help out with a gardening query please? I have finally bought some raised beds. Well they are wooden frames that sit around pallets but can be used as a bed. They have no bottom so do I line it with something. Google tells me to use corrugated cardboard. Does it matter if it sits on lawn or patio? Thinking on it's not a raised bed as it has no feet! *wonders if this is going to be a successful gardening venture* :D

  • Hi Cath, our raised beds (5) are all on grass, however, we did line the sides with thick black plastic, to protect the wood from rotting. We put gravel at the bottom to help drainage, then a mix of compost, smallish amount of top soil, and spent mushroom compost to get a good mix.

We've topped up each year when needed depending upon what we intended planting.

You can grow so much more in raised beds, they are extremely productive :)

    Good luck
