Hi El and Fothers, we seem to be divided - Mr T fancies the Far East but having travelled there a lot with work I don't feel as enthusiastic. I fancied India but am alone on the one. I think it will probably end up being the Far East
We used to do loads of different types of holidays but with the new regime that has stopped - this will be a step back into the old world, but basically as a farewell to DD before leaving home.
Will need to have money in my back pocket for DS but by then we will be MF so it won't be quite so pressurised :rotfl:
I am on MfP but I found I wanted to keep weighing myself and then if I gained a bit became disheartened and went off the boil.
I am eating nothing at all which is not good for me - does make me feel quite bored. I love spicing nuts myself and having some with a glass of wine, but nope, no more.
Fingers crossed the weight loss continues.

Hi Tilly,
You should try and weigh yourself once a week only, at the same time, on the same scales so that you get a good comparative reading. Bodies fluctuate in weight from day to day, weighing less in the morning than in the evening. A day is too short a time to see any benefit and if you catch it on an upward fluctuation, it can ruin your motivation.
At SW we advocate not using our own scales at all, just the group ones.
Eg
If members weigh 5lb lighter at home and then weigh only 3lb lighter in group, they're devastated whereas if they'd not weighed at home, they'd have most likely been overjoyed with a 3lb loss.
If they gain 5lb when weighing at home, they never make it into group to see how they've really done!!!
You ladies have a natural monthly "ebb and flow" also, with many of you retaining fluid at some point in your cycle. It is only fluid though and should be released after a few days, so if you get a blip, don't despair - it could be that. This can even happen in menopausal and post-menopausal ladies. Chances are you've still lost body fat but it's just being masked by water retention.
Diets high on salt can cause water retention too - best cure is to drink water and plenty of it - we recommend 6-8 glasses a day.
Hope that helps.

Tilly you doing the 5/2 diet ?
Have to admit I would LOVE to see more of the Far East, we did Thailand , Bangkok, Chiangmai and Phuket for hubby's 40th amazing holiday ... Would love to do Cambodia and Vietnam tbh ... I know whoever you decide will be amazing though
I do fancy India myself would live to do the triangle then down to Kerala for a house boat and cookery course break ... Can u tell I've spent some time thinking about it lol0 -
Hi Thistle, thanks for your advice
. Having gone though the menopause early (no HRT) I am struggling to keep my weight constant ish. I can put on a stone without really noticing - I'm 5'9".
I'm exercising again, walking to start with and will then get back to weights.
I'm drinking an average of 2 litres of water and have a diet low in salt ( high BP so I don't cook with salt, nor add it subsequently - all meals are cooked from scratch unless we eat out). Our portions were definitely wrong - much better now and also we haven't missed the quantity.
What I struggle with is the cycle. I lose it, I put in on, I lose it and round and round we go. I wouldn't describe myself as an idiot, yet I don't seem able to keep it off consistently and keep it off. Feel very cross with myself at the moment. This time last year everything in my wardrobe fitted.
Anyway, thanks for your advice.

I am giving this one last go, then I will take an alternative if it doesn't work. Vietnam was on Mr Ts list as well

I do a mixture of 5/2 low carb and carb cycling ( sounds complicated but it isn't really) the 5/2 works for me with being nights, the reason I do the 5/2 is for the side effect of improved cognitive function ( I've had issues with this since the " possible" TIA) the low carb as it suits my diet and I loose weight easily in it and carb cycling as it works with both my lifestyle, plateaus etc
Everyone has to do what's right for them and I have friends that swear by SW and have other friends that swear by other things
I find when I'm not in a sugar cycle it is an easy way of working ... However when I hit the sugar cycle all bets are off
Sorry if I've offended anyone0 -
Hi Tilly,
I stumbled across a post of yours from early last year on someone else's diary thread today where you were talking about paying council tax etc by credit card in order to earn cashback. Just wondered if you were still doing this or if you had moved on to a Santander 123 current account?

Morning El, you haven't offended me at all
Weight loss is a strange thing. I would consider myself a fairly sensible intelligent woman - Froggy/GG ssshhhhh :rotfl: - I know how many calories I should have, but I have still eaten too much.
I'm having chicken or fish salads for lunches and am enjoying those
Glad to hear the sugar thing is in abeyance at the moment :T
