You know, Tilly, if you want to do a TillyTidy but have a whole number of pounds in your account, you could always tidy a whole pound. Happy birthday mr T (oooo feels like I'm in the A team )
Hope the pain eases Tilly ( have been AWOL for a few days due to work and just saw your posts)
Well done in the piggy empty0 -

House filled with home made bread baking:)
80p worth of £co check ins - all helps
Children's accounts closed - slightly underestimated how much was in there. Have now paid £860 into each of the children's Virg!n accounts which have a much better interest rate. Plus they are customer focussed.
Mr T has negotiated a brilliant deal on a new phone as his was up today - happy chap indeed.
Another PC payment received.

A quick thank you to Tilly and GG - I've just spent the best part of this afternoon and evening reading The Millionaire Next Door - a great read, it has sparked quite a few trains of thought that I need to mull over some more. Especially loved the exploration of how to best support your children and what not to do.0

It has made a lot of difference in terms of saving of insurance, MOT costs etc. Very occasionally, we find we do need to be in two different places at once, but usually it works itself out!Yes it is The Millionaire Next Door. American, but just as relevant here. I particularly liked the bit about why it's a bad thing to give your kids money :rotfl:.

Sadly lodger didn't pitch up - did mail me though - so back to the drawing board with my remaining candidate. Proving very difficult at the moment but I'm still not considering permanent - definitely need our weekends as a family

Well done in the piggy empty. We did so much yesterday we were all exhausted by last night.
Mr T really enjoyed the day and seems in high spirits this morning. Could be because I watched Not Going Out on iplayer on my iPad this morning and laughed so loud I woke him up;)
Mr T doesn't have any chains round his neck but is pretty tall - my own Mr T :T

Morning Lois, I was getting so frustrated by the lack of TTs, I OPd £7.26 :T. It probably sounds quite mad but doing something every day to reduce the mortgage is important to me. Plus they add up
Thanks for the suggestion.
Payday in less than two weeks and we start all over again

Good morning Tilly, sun is shining here so I hope you're enjoying the same rays. Re the car I have a friend similar to yours. I live in a very pretty block of flats on one side of our road and she lives in a bungalow on the opposite side. She is always referring to the 'East Side' in derogatory terms and won't shop in Tesco because of all the common people that shop there (I shop there!). However because of her overspending habit on total carp she has been forced to put the house up for sale and look for a home in a cheaper area.
So I think the reference to the ego when buying stuff is very true. I know that once I let go of the need to keep up with the Joneses my need to buy stuff also faded away. These days I am very content with what I have and if I do want something I either make over something I already have or I save.
My major purchase this Spring will be an annual membership to a very beautiful mansion and gardens. Totally cost effective as I spend ages there photographing the flowers, sitting in the beautiful parkland or by the river writing or having picnics whilst watching their sheep leaping around! Heaven :AFlowers are sunshine for the soul0
