In one of my previous jobs I had to go on regular international conference calls with a colleague. In order to relieve the tedium, we would think of a random word, or abbreviation which would have to be said during the call. The more times the word was said, the higher points we would score.

I tried to update OH on the financials and what we'll be saving for in the future (small items which annoy me when I have to pay out for them...like a hair cut for me which I know takes place X times per year yet don't save a penny for it and then think blast I need to find £20 today!) - sent him an email which he promised to look at....and "forgot" (aka not interested). However the fact I've informed him means if he questions the new "regime", he will be pointed in the direction of said e-mail. Like Edinburgher, as long as we don't scrimp too much he lets me deal with the finances and is always happy and pleased when I show him our savings pot.

:rotfl: I was thinking about you all a few days ago. Boss met a new committee member who thanked him for 'onboarding' her. He thought they'd just had a chat over a cup of coffee .

Mrs E and I had a similar sort of discussion/budget realisation a few months ago after 'discovering' maybe half a dozen recurring expenses that were costing us £££ a year in total, but that we didn't allow for. When I look at the bottom line of the spreadsheet now, the amount spare is lower, but at least I can be confident that it's actually spare :T0 -

Afternoon Mr E, absolutely agree. My budget allows for hair cuts, the occasional takeaway. I like knowing that spare really does mean spare. It's this consistency and reliable data which allows me to make the chunks of OPs each month.

Morning, I am off on holiday in a week or so. This morning I am emptying both fridges and checking what will be used for cooking this week, and what needs to be prepared and frozen. I don't have much food wastage and if I spend an hour on this, I should end up with a few more dishes in the freezer
Small ac tidy OP of 84p made. I am listing some stuff on eb@y this morning.
We had friends over for lunch which was great, lovely to take some time out and catch up on news. Afterwards we went out for a couple of hours volunteering. When we're out we also collect rubbish which people have discarded and we came back with a bin bag 3/4 full. I really find it sad that people can't be bothered to take their rubbish with them
Off to have lunch with friends today, but as I did the ironing yesterday, once the fridges and eb@y listings are complete, I can chill out.
I'm off to make a cuppa and talk to my dogs. Mr T and kids are fast asleep so will be quiet.
Enjoy Sunday
