  • Re. prevaricating - I suppose the key is to keep it sensible. Going over the financials with OH is a good chance to sit down, check that everything is working as it should, fix anything that isn't and to set sensible goals. Unless you need to make radical lifestyle changes to support your new OP habit, what's the worst that can happen?

Tbh I'm not really keen on discussing financials with Mrs E - she thinks I'm obsessed with them and I think she's disinterested to the point of getting nowt done :D We've now reached a happy medium where I essentially do what I like with our financials as long as I don't move us into a van and am happy to discuss any questions she might have.

Going 'over the financials with OH' in my house consists of me telling MrMRN on our in goings, out goings and balances. But he challenged me last night and asked how much we had in the kitchen fund out of the blue... thankfully I had the number on the tip of my tongue. Then he said... "see I don't have to pay attention or remember because you do it for me". So I'll be adopting Tilly's old approach of not doing anything for a few weeks and pretending I don't care/know either.

Overall I have Edinburgher's approach though. MrMRN happy for me to do what I want but just run by him the benefits of my ideas before I implement them.

Your posts really make me stop and think which I appreciate.

    Shucks - thanks :o

I like your 'programme' approach - reminds me very much of the book 'Early Retirement Extreme' that basically takes a systems view of finance to its logical conclusion. Well worth reading if you can find it secondhand or in the library :)

Because any other means would be frowned upon in this forum!!!

I actually bought the full fat Kindle version :rotfl:
  • Hi Edinburgher, I will check the library. I'm an old fashioned kinda gal, and need to feel a book and turn the pages. Mr T and I have been laughing about this, this week.

Will definitely hunt the book down though.

  • So what does 'circle back round' mean exactly?

Currently on a call when I guess I should be listening more, with the US teams rabbiting on, instead of thinking and listening, sorry everyone, I am just frustrated x x x

I have some ironing to do, with my new iron.

Oh dear, the GG approach didn't provide a permanent fix then :D

:rotfl: I was thinking about you all a few days ago. Boss met a new committee member who thanked him for 'onboarding' her. He thought they'd just had a chat over a cup of coffee .
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Morning, goodness it was a bit quiet with MSE down.

I had an extremely long day and was quite weary - working from home today and looking forward to some peace - hopefully.

I reckon circle back round means: that's a really difficult question, it actually requires some thought and action, so I will avoid giving an answer

GG I think you'll find on boarding is so much more than a coffee and a chat :T. I am sure it will have been an empathetic 121 moment and an opportunity to communicate one's delight at joining. Far more fulfilling than a coffee and a chat :rotfl:

£co £10.61 arrived and OPd. 33p tidy up done.

Enough whining, I need to crack on. I have some ironing to do.

    Best wishes Tilly
