    Thanks Tilly,

    Megela,

    Total overpayments from 20/04/12: £8152.95
  • Hi Megela, I have OPd as well - I can't imagine H are very impressed but if they offer such incentives, they are going to have lots of takers :)

  • Pay day in just over two weeks, I am planning on a spend of £50 on fresh veg, milk and fruit in that time and NOTHING ELSE.

Let's see how I get on

I had a really weird feeling again this morning. The mortgage is reducing visibly now, whereas with the Spanish bank it seemed to be never ending. I can actually see that we are going to achieve it. I know I have a diary, am doing the right thing every day etc but it has been such a huge number for so long, that it didn't feel real - hope this all makes sense. However, now it is dropping I feel so focussed on keeping it that way. By December it should be about £238k the numbers are flexing a little but we have had a lot of work done which slowed down part of the repayments this year and the house is better place to live as a result.

I am still confident we will hit April 2016 although the numbers are scary.

Have a good day, Tilly x

Morning, getting back into the swing of things now. Money under control, all the big house/garden jobs completed - never been able to say that before.

Next focus is to get my exercise back on track and lose the 14 lbs which have crept on. Considering I lost so much weight in January/February then I guess this will come off but I need to eat less.

No money update today as NSD.

Edit to add: menu plan is working really well and I will only need fruit/milk/veg. I double checked last night to make sure I could manage with circa £50 over the next two weeks and I can :T. That will result in an extra £110 OP.

I need to change my mortgage SS as I am making far more payments than I am tracking. I have a gap to close of around £43k to meet April 2016 but that is achievable by April 2016. Given the size of the mortgage I am now seriously considering savings accounts which I had previously not wanted to do. I have toyed with this idea in the past but the need to reduce the number meant I wasn't relaxed doing it, however, I have to bridge the gap so I am now looking at other savings opportunities. I hope to have sorted this by early next week.

    Best wishes Tilly x

    Go Tilly, Go Tilly

You are going great guns at reducing your mortgage

I'm just a teeny bit jealous that you will be done in 2016. I wished we earned that much never mind give that amount to the bank :)

You have achieved so much since you started this diary that you should give yourselves a huge pat on the back :T

Hi Radish, don't forget we are dinosaur's in comparison to you though - plus have wasted so much money and time. We are in major catch up and whilst we are fortunate with our jobs and salaries, it just underlines our previous stupidity.

Thanks for your comments though, they are really appreciated and we are doing everything we can to kill the mortgage. When our mortgage equals whatever my redundancy package would be, then I know I can opt for early retirement if I wanted to. That is something unbelievably motivating. I am actually tired of working at this pace and my kids are growing up extremely quickly. There is a train of thought, Mr Tilly, who would like me to keep working to bump up the savings once the mortgage is gone - this is still in discussion :)

Hope all is going well with your un packing.

  • NSD yesterday :)
    NSD today, I think
    Free cinema this evening
    Calories reduced significantly yesterday

Just about to start the ironing

Bargainous pitta breads, salad and bargainous spicy sausages for early dinner (free cinema at 630pm so it's always a rush)

    Packed lunches made.

That's all for today. Under two two weeks to payday :). Almost end of the week.

Saturday will be quite spendy as we are out for dinner with friends and as the entertainment pot is empty tht will have to go on to the CC. As the last bill has just been paid and the card is empty, then that's ok.

Hi Tilly, You are doing really well. I think the wait for payday always makes me feel like numbers aren't moving but when I get paid I'm like "wow! look how much we have saved!"

I am absolutely rubbish at keeping a spending diary. Maybe if I did it on my phone I'd be more likely to remember? I bet it'd be surprising. Might attempt it again.

I don't think I'm that far behind you on the dinosaur age

And tell Mr Tilly off, how much savings does he want in the fund after you have paid of the mortgage

This week has flown I think its because I have to do a big presentation on Friday afternoon and I'm not quite ready yet
