Morning , well the brief respite from rain has stopped, it's pouring again
. I know we need it but I find the constant grey sky quite depressing. The blue sky lifts the heart and soul.
A couple of money switches complete this month. We only have 5 more regular saver payments to go and then there's another chunk to throw at the mortgage before we start again.
Work is busier than busy and I am fighting with myself. I cannot let it become all consuming and the workload means I could lose any balance in my life. That is not happening so I have to keep strong and strict with myself.
Pay day in 3 weeks - just have to keep spending to a minimum until then. I am saving for a couple of things and want to 'steal' some of the food and entertainment budget :rotfl:

Ooh good luck, whenever I try to do that it always backfires - I'm sure the kids save up their growth spurts just to remind me not to be too frugal :rotfl:
Does your entertainment budget fluctuate month-by-month (ie, depending on what plans you have) or is it fixed?Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

I steal from the food and petrol budget

Thanks for the update about Christmas! Yahoo! Not long

Hi Caz, I save the same amount each month and leave any unspent funds in the pot. That way if we have something unexpected pop in I have the funds available. Let's hope nothing unexpected crops up

Morning Ammonite, I am sure Mr Tilly and the kids will enjoy the enforced diet over the next 3 weeks - LOL - I am hoping that with the recent bargainous shopping at Mr T, it will all be fine. Menu is mostly using food from freezer and fresh veg and fruit so should be ok.
Whilst not wishing the year away, I love Christmas so thought a little reminder would be good
:)

Will have to start constructing the Christmas lists for the kids

So do you have a separate account for entertainment then? I quite like that idea - our old Santander current account is sitting doing nothing at the moment, I've been contemplating closing it but if I can put it to use that makes more sense.
The next question is, does the alcohol come out of the food budget or the entertainment budget?! :rotfl:

Hi Caz, sadly I do have a separate pot for entertainment -that way we all know we have money to do things off the cuff
Since giving up alcohol from 1 January we haven't bought much booze. Our stocks from a 50% off and voucher extravaganza at Mr T are keeping us going

Just realised I have had a diary for almost 6 months this coming weekend. For any lurkers out there, I lurked for almost a year before starting a diary, as I wanted DH to be as on board as me. In hindsight I should have just gone for it. In six months we have achieved so much, and if this post urges someone to start a diary now, then that's good news - sooner the better IMO as it encourages focus and gets your aspirations out there.
Best wishes Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Evening, work got in the way of posting today but we did manage a very early dog walk

No spend day again, and menu from freezer and stocks is great. Its amazing what you can put together when you know what you have in the freezer and larder.
No major money updates for today, so I am turning in for a well deserved early night.

I did a (mental) freezer inventory a few weeks back - was gobsmacked to find I had a whole farmyard of meat hiding out at the bottom of my freezer. It was unbelievable!
At the moment I am only shopping for fridge items and the occasional larder/freezer item. On a mission to get through the stores in the cupboard now. Chopped tomatoes and rice krispies for dinner tonight
(joking obviously!) 1
