Sadly pouring with rain so dogs have missed their walk. There's rain and there's rain and it's bucketing down. Will take them in between calls.
I have alarm bells going off that this may come across as smug, which is not my intent. I posted a few days ago that I felt in a good place. Before changing our focus on spending and money management, I never felt at peace really. I have always worked like a mad woman but in all honesty, that's when I am happiest, but knowing that I can check the bank accounts and all cards are direct debited each month, and the spending on them is controlled has resulted in a less worried and harried person.
I am feeling quite frustrated that the veg plots are behind now, given that we were ahead of the game but I guess that's the whole point of growing your own stuff. You have to learn to manage it. If the weather is better this weekend, then we will do some more planting up. Tomato plants are looking beautiful along with peppers.
Have a good day - just remembered I need to have a quick sort out of the freezer on Saturday - I know how to live :rotfl:

Morning Ammonite, our posts crossed - my freezer needs a bit of a sort out.
I really do think that most of us throw food in the freezer and tend to forget about it. Since I have tracked the contents more, it has definitely reduced my food bills. I would just buy more and more and never really use it up properly. No more. If it goes in the freezer it's because it is a base for another meal, a complete meal, or veg etc.
Thursday already, almost arrived at the BH weekend :T
Let me know when to pop round for dinner, I quite fancy rice crispies and chopped toms :rotfl:

Chopped tomatoes and rice krispies for dinner tonight
(joking obviously!)
Of course you're joking - unless you're really hard up that is a lunchtime dish. It needs a tin of 'Pilchards? How did I end up with a tin of pichards? I never buy pilchards' to make it suitable for dinner. IMHO

Not at all smug - just an honest reflection of where you areTilly_MFW_in_6_YRS wrote: »I am feeling quite frustrated that the veg plots are behind now, given that we were ahead of the game but I guess that's the whole point of growing your own stuff.
Your poor plants - I bet you give them such a hard time - 'Hurry up! I have a timetable to meet you know!!!!!!!!!' :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I did a (mental) freezer inventory a few weeks back - was gobsmacked to find I had a whole farmyard of meat hiding out at the bottom of my freezer. It was unbelievable!
Despite having a list I still manage to forget what is in my freezers and have multiple "ooh!" moments when rediscovering them. Doesn't help when I forget to update my list either...

Lol, regularly have grocery amnesia do you gg? Perhaps it's related to the aforementioned freezer amnesia... :rotfl:Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

My freezer isn't big enough for food to get lost in and is mostly full of EBM (for return to work) and frozen leftovers from batch cooking. My tomato plants are still quite teeny and on my kitchen windowsill. I keep meaning to plant some more seeds (possibly courgette and lettuce) but the rainy weather has kept me out of the garden centre.Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!1

Hi GG, haven't quite got the plants growing to a schedule -how cool would that be - that's one of the joys of growing stuff, you never know what will happen.

Hi Caz, I have freezer envy - I quite fancy having two. My productivity focussed brain starts thinking how much more effective my planning could be :T:rotfl::rotfl:

Evening Persimmon, I think the weather is causing huge problems with delays. I love growing fruit and veg. We have a few raised beds and pots and it surprises me how much we grow normally.
I do find the rain really depressing - we need sme blue skies and sun, but I appreciate we also need the water.
I think I just rabbit on about stuff here but it certainly has kept us all focussed. Thanks for reading
Roll on the weekend and some gardening for us all

Hi CathT, my kids used to love growing courgettes as they are so quick, easy and prolific - they were always bringing tiny ones in, well before ready, and asking me to cook them. :A
