I found before that my shopping bills would be around £120 ish (and more) a week - now nothing gets wasted, and my shopping is circa £60/80 per week. With some weeks being just top up veg/milk/fruit weeks so overall that brings the cost down throughout the year.

That's fantastic results! it only shows that proper planning is minimizing waste and is really worth it!

Hi Weronika, that was shopping without a list, having two fridges and never remembering what was in them. I cannot begin to tell you how much food we would throw away. I may as well have taken fivers and dropped them on the fire

    Good luck with your quests

  • Hi GG, I had a go at decluttering last night - DH and I finished a bottle of port :rotfl:

Hope you find the menu planning helps - I find that by planning in this way, I may end up buying a larger joint, for example, but make far more out of it - interestingly when I saw my mother over the weekend, she was saying this is what they did when she was young. I am either getting old or learning - lets go with the latter :)

    Best wishes Tilly

    Hi Tilly

One of our favourites is Day 1) roast chicken with lots of veg and nrmally yorkies Day 2) chicken pie - filled with veg, pumpkin, perhaps chorizo - whatever you fancy really Day 3) Thai chicken soup. You can also probably get some stock (as well as enough for the soup) out of the bones.

This never feels like hardship and makes it all go much further.

    Have a good week

Morning Brizzle, I do just the same - you make thai soup and I throw the carcasses in the freezer until I have 3 or 4 and then make stock in the slow cooker. Mmmmmmm - still hungry

Home made chicken stock in risotto, with the bits of chicken from the bones, mushrooms, onion, left over cream. Goodness, I have to stop now I'm getting peckish !

Hiya Tilly, I've just logged in here for the first time in over a fortnight. I can see you've sent me a PM but for some reason I can't get at it. It might be because I'm on my phone at the moment?

I'm travelling for the next few hours so hopefully can grab a bit of time to catch up on all your recent mortgage slaying activities 8:)

Might not get on proper connection until tomorrow so in the meantime apologies for the delayed reply and hope you are very well

    Regards

Its been 2-3 weeks now (I think but times does fly) and it has certainly made a difference. 6 hours seems to work well and she is busy from start to finish. It's fab knowing I haven't got to start cleaning on a Saturday and I can see that life is much improved already.

It's strange really, when I look at workload in the work place for others, I do my utmost to balance it and not overload any one person, yet I didn't apply the same discipline to me. 50-60 hr week, then cooking, cleaning, ironing, gardening, exercising, dog walking etc plus socialising - not sure how I found the time to go to sleep.

House is lovely and tidy, clean and sorted and that has made a significant improvement.

Off to put the kettle on before my next call starts.

Mr Tilly is happy as he managed to cut the lawns in between calls and 30 mins after he finished it poured and has rained on and off ever since.

  • Sadly the dogs are not getting a walky/run this evening it is simply TOO wet. I am expecting Noah to be passing by with his arc shortly :)

On line HF reward account sorted and money should be winging its way tomorrow. I am still treating this as a test until I see the reward pitching up.

Off for dinner now, have a good night, Tilly x
