    Poor sazzybum :(

One of the dogs I was reading about on the doglost site is a Whippet called Zak who has been missing for months. There are still regular sightings of him being reported. The doglost admin people have left a comment on the page saying dogs will fend for themselves usually. (although Zak is in a city, there are plenty of woods and parks round there for him to hide in).

There are some advantages of living in the Highlands. The massive numbers of dogs both lost and found in South-East and Central England is really depressing. Even when found they don't always get matched up with the owners. So sad.
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

Doh, I'm such a div. I sent some emails today. I sent one to stuart crowther at stv - he is the community editor for STV Moray (think that's near Nairn?). I sent it with the links to the various sites coped and pasted and they came out not working. I'm not at all techy so don't know what happened there. Sent him another mail with the links freshly written, but it makes a bad impression.

I sent this email, which is shamelessly stolen from chris n tj (thank you!)
Please help us to find Ruaridh (Rory).

He's an 11 year old neutered Male Black Labrador Cross, with an elderly/silver face and silver tummy. He has a large fatty lump on his right side. He went missing in the Boath Park area of Nairn, Highland area of Scotland on 5th November. Ruaridh slipped his collar and bolted in terror from the noise of fireworks, so he has no collar or ID at all. Ruaridh isn't chipped either, due to stressing out at the Vets.

Ruaridh is very friendly, he especially loves children, and would come if called.

His distressed owner is alone in Nairn. Her partner is visiting his elderly parents in Australia. Both her sons are in the British Army and serving abroad right now. Lets make these lads happy by helping to find their furry pal.

Ruaridh's owner mentioned him on MSE forum (Money Saving Expert) and we all tried to rally round and help. Many of us couldn’t really do that much, not being in the area. But we are thinking of ways to help, places to look and things to do - like sending this email, to beg for your help! The word was spread far and wide, including a Face Book group. The local radio MFR,(Moray Firth Radio) was bombarded with emails and after a while they did put an alert out. The local papers ran the story, but still nothing. Posters have been made and posted everywhere that Ruaridh's owner could think of. There were a few possible sightings at first (including Nairn Caravan Park, Marine Road and the highland village of Croy), and these were checked out, but by the time someone got there he had gone. He could have travelled some distance by now.

The internet is great at times like this and with all these people helping we thought it wouldn’t be long before this old timer was found. Well its now November the 16th, no recent sighting of this poor old boy and his owner is distraught and rapidly losing hope. We need a big push, and we mean a BIG PUSH. Any help you can offer would be appreciated, an offer of putting a flyer in your newspaper, a radio appeal, anything at all.

Local dog walkers, hill walkers, TV stations, gliding clubs, you name it we contacted it. Rambling groups, paper lads, police, community wardens, bin men. I think you get the gist. We have left no stone unturned BUT WE NEED MORE HELP.

I could go on with this story but you wouldn’t read it all - there’s pages of it. Please if you can spare the time read what you can, you will see just how people come together to help a fellow human being and her lost dog. So please, please can you spare a few minutes to help. Maybe, just maybe, you might be the one that makes this a happy ending.

Please check out the links below to follow the story.

    Ruaridh on doglostuk with pics....

    Thanks for reading.

I asked him to pass it on to someone who can help if he's not the right person (he does seem to be interested in Moray only, but it's worth a shot.)

Everyone, again I'm saying the small words, but they mean so much- Thank you.

Thank you for caring, thank you for working so hard, thank you for being there when I was at my end and faltering, thank you for sharing the pain, and on behalf of Ruars, thank you for keeping his Mummy focussed on finding him.

I'm still hoping that this be made into a sticky for anyone else who finds themselves in this awful, horrible, disheartening situation-so they can read it, and get so many ideas that they can't think of in their haze, like I have.
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.

I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them :)

I've just pasted a link to the Dogs Today magazine's facebook page.

I'm off to bed now. I hope you manage to get some sleep too, Sazzy.
