Here is an idea for anyone who was caught out by this.
Every week put a £1 or even 50p into a tin or a different bank to your main bank. Then do not touch this money and even forget or pretend you don't have it.
After 20 weeks it will be £20 or £10. After 40 weeks it will be £40 or £20.
Then when this happens again, this is the time you remember this money. Its your emergency fund for this sort of thing. You can then hopefully get essentials to see you through.
If you did this, there would be no need to talk about toilet paper or taking legal action against the bank.

Rofl. There's always a justin bieber album you can use on the loo. Just a thought. The idea about putting small amounts in a tin somewhere is a good idea thoughOf to look for one and stick my first pound coin in!
