  • hello you sorry to hear your boxing day wasn't so good, neither was mine, but that's cos i was ill lol.... I've never heard of cash for clothes before i might have to google it see what it's all about i have plenty of clothes that are outgrown but the way my kids wear them they're no good for ebay usually :o

what bank is your dh with? When i was with barclays I had 2 lots of 'fraudulent' activity on the account. And i'm ashamed to say now, i ran my bank in such a state that i never even noticed £800 missing :o:o And it was only when my bank card was declined and i called them they told me they had seen suspicious activity.!! both times i got the money back really quick though so i have to praise barclays for one thing they can do right at least :p;)

How ya doing DFW, I saw that you didnt have a great Boxing Day either , looks like you needed a good long sleep to catchup after being so poorly and looking after the children as well !:( Hope you are all feelign much better now .

Have a google for Cash for Clothes, I'm not sure if I am allowed to put websites on here. You should find it easily. You dont get much for the huge sack you need to fill, but if its things you wouldnt be able to ebay or they are looking old fashioned you might get something, and something is better than nothing in my opinion ! They dont take anything worn or smelly or with bobbly bits on, it tells you what they will accept on their website. If it didnt go to them I would just take it to the tip, and as they will collect it really is effortless ! I spent too long giving sacks of beautiful clothes away to friends children, who were then wonderfully dressed. Some of them havent bought their children clothes for years, then all of a sudden it dawned on me that we were in huge amount of debt while they were spending all their money doing up the houses, buying new cars and the latest electronic gadgets, which they were able to do as they didnt need to clothe their children as I was doing it for them !! That was another LBM ! I think they may be wondering where the clothes fairy delivering the goody bags that used to magically appear on their doorstep may have gone !!

I have so much to ebay, I was planning to do it before Christmas, but just dont seem to be getting around to it. That will be going on my to do list for January !

In answer to your other question, they dont appear to have taken any money from us, but they are going around merrily setting up all sorts of accounts in Mr Pinots name using our details, we have yet to discover if they are giving our debit card details when they set these accounts up, because as it wasnt really Mr Pinot that opened the accounts up , the companies concerned arent allowed to give us that information ?!! :rotfl:

Just realised how much I have written, I really could sit on here all day, ramble on and bore everyone to tears !!

  • Having a very lazy day today ! Mr Pinot has the day off and both girls were at parties last night so thankfully everyone woke late which was lovely!

Off to a New Years Eve party tonight, fancy dress . Being in Debt Free Money mode now every waking hour ,I have been moaning about spending money hiring costumes and I must admit to not being very handy with a needle and cotton, so off I trundled to Primarche and we have managed to rustle up four slightly dodgy looking costumes, we just need to put the finishing touches to them now, so have sent Mr Pinot and DD2 off on a mission for added extras. Having tried the half finished costumes on last night, it really is a sight to behold !! Think we will pop into my parents before we go, just to terrify them with the spectacle of us all dressed up and share a quick glass of bubbles with them before we head off. Otherwise they will be on their own all night so I think they will appreciate a quick visit .

Now off to finally tackle the Christmas tree and get it back in the loft with the assistance of DD1, although she keeps on disappearing back in her room.

Need also to sort out the new bank account, its all set up and ready to go but we arent using it, mainly because I have piled all the new cards, pin numbers, internet banking details in a heap somewhere, so I must get that sorted and put some money in there ready for Jan. It will be our first month of sticking to our CASHflow budget and I am determined we will rise to the challenge. Its a little difficult for us as our pay is erratic as are the amounts we earn and when we get it, so we cant put a lump sum in at the beginning or end of a month, just bits and pieces throughout the month, which does make budgeting quite difficult, but I'm sure we will manage.

Another thing I must do is the Surveys. I keep reading other peoples stories of survey vouchers / money etc and I have an inbox absolutely full of them. Intially I was good as gold and was doing them every day but it is so boring and time consuming and I must confess I think its been about four weeks since I have done one ! Must get my backside in gear !

Thats it for now, Happy New Year to anyone who may be reading !! Hope 2012 is a good one for you all !!

  • Happy New Year !!

I am feeling happy and positive that 2012 is going to be a good year for the Pinot Family !

Wasnt quite up to posting yesterday, was recovering from a slightly sore head ! I will blame the lack of sleep rather than the alcohol consumed on New Years Eve ! Hee Hee !! At least yesterday was a NSD due the fact we could barely move off of the sofa. Homemade Primarche Costumes went down a treat at the party and a good time was had by all.

    Jobs for today -

Get the blasted tree away int he loft and outside decorations down
Go for a nice family walk
Have another NSD ( i must aim for more of those )
Count the pennies in the Sealed ish pot ( must join Sealed Pot Challenge)
Go through Freezer and see how much food we have left and then gt organised and do a meal plan
Put ebay bits in nice big pile ready to photograph and finally get on ebay

Think thats a long enough list for today . Byee for now xx:)

  • Happy New Year Pinot

Glad the fancy dress went down a storm. It's amazing what you can cut back on without hardship. Somethings are worth holding out for like butter and heinz tom sauce though!

Just seen your signature, you knocked a fair old wack off the amount already, well done.

Sounds like you have a productive day ahead. Enjoy the walk.

Very true, I will add Heinz Baked beans to that list, Mr Pinot refuses to eat any others, oh and he brought home somecheap Bacon crisps the other day, but they werent Frazzles so I complained loudly !!

Yep, the totals are going down, still a very long haul though. Not sure what the beginning part of this year will bring, as work is looking very thin on the ground for us at the moment, certainly for the first few months at least, but things can change very quickly and we are positive all will come good !:)

  • Ha ha ! Have just realised in the midst of my ramblings and burblings I have referred to my gorgeous girls as ds1 and ds2 :rotfl: !! If they ever read this in years to come will I ever be forgiven ?!

Just goes to show my brain is a mush of candy floss these days as there is so much spinning around in it !

Hi Pinot, just dropped by to wish you well. Yours is an interesting diary and I will keep following it. My debts are higher than yours (well, mine are higher than most peoples!) if that is any consolation. We will both get there, and importantly we will enjoy the challenge and not let our debts/lack of money stop us enjoying life.

Thankyou all for your replies above. I will answer you all a little later.

Today have been busy with gettimg the girls back to school and last minute homework panics ! Both informed me they need new shoes, astro turfs and DD2 that none of her dancing shoes fit !! Aaaargh !!! Please stop growing !! Actually DD2's feet have now grown larger than DD1 so with much hilarity she has donated her old Converse to her Older Sister who is now being dubbed the Hand Me Down Kid !! She took it all in good spirits and was pleased with her two pairs of ( slightly battered) Converse !

    On another note -

Music Magpie Cheque for £39.21 arrived today, so that will go into the Emergency Fund ( or possibly School Shoe Fund ) - have nother box to get ready to send them.

M&S have written to say they havent heard anything from me since I told them we were in difficulties ( I guess the Cashflow letters and this one from them must have crossed in the post )

M&S statement with £160 of interest added to the Account - Yuk !! I wont worry about this for now, I will keep calm and wait for the responses to the Cashflow statement to start to drop onto the mat.

And thats it, Mr Postie didnt bring much of interest today .

Tomorrow jobs once the girls are back at school are -

to get some money into our new Nationwide Account and sort our pin numbers out and interenet banking details from underneath the piles of paperwork sitting in my office ( affectionately known as the Broom Cupboard)

Pay all our creditors the amounts we have offered as per the CASHflow statement.

EMail our lovely CASHflow advisor to wish him a belated Happy New Year and let him know that we have sent letters off to everyone and we are sitting tight and waiting.

Oh, and tackle the huuuuuge pile of ironing waiting for me !! My mum asked me if it would be easier for me on this occasion to send it out to the Ironing Lady to do it for me !! If only she knew the reason why my response was a very firm NO !!

Must dash now, DD1 needs help with her Geography Homework. No rest for the wicked eh ?
