Thanks Lou, just a case of getting our heads down, motoring on and hoping we can keep our sense of humour along the way. They can't have that can they!!!!
Pinot did you manage a finance free day? This place is addictive isn't it?

Yes I did HH !! I refused to think about it, well other than a quick look on here at least ! And it was a NSD as well ! Mr Pinot was fed at work and dinner was varying leftovers lurking in the fridge !
So all went as planned !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Hi there, good to read the latest posts Mrs PG. well done on having a no money day. How's Sunday going??
HH.. Do you have a list of stuff from AL.I that you do think is worth it? With the different brands etc I am not always sure what's a bargain and what isn't. Thanks! Also not been to LI£I.. Is that worth it for different stuff.
Cheers

Hi
The trick is to have no supermarket loyalty. If you have the time just get the best from everywhere! Don't get seduced by offers. Do you need it? Always work on price per kg. You will be amazed at how so called offers or even value packs looking like they are the basic range are more expensive than the loose fruit and veg sat next to it.
There are some cracking bargains in Lidl and Aldi but shop wisely or you will not get the cheaper price or the quality. What I like is they sometimes have some cracking non bargains.
Best bargain was loads of oregano, compare the price of their big bags when they have it to what you would pay in the general supermarkets. With the power of the web it's much easier to be savvy now, just pop into their sites. Easy peasy. Customer revenge! Better in your pocket than theirs.
Hope that helps.

HH, that's so true. We sometimes do our weekly shop at 2-3 different places, but this does take more time. Unfortunately in New Zealand there is currently only one supermarket online so we're unable to do that BUT if I have the time I do a pretend shop online and then print the list off and compare the prices in the different shops (iykwim). This week I was able to save about $15 (£7.50). Doesn't sound like a lot but it all adds up.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Thanks guys..we are not sm shoppers if we can help it but are finding AL&I good at the mo and may also add Mr L to the list as we drive back past it after AL£I most weeks. We use the Co@p usually for basics ( if we dont use local independents and Riverford which we actually prefer to do ) and I like the divi at the Co@p but as I need to get the grocery bill down I need to be focussed on this.MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

We're in Hamilton which is on the North Island. It's not as scenic as some places and I would love to live rurally or by the sea, preferably both but as we need access to certain services, this suits us. We're in a lovely spot though, with a park opposite which leads to the river, with some lovely walks.
If you head to my diary I have posted a couple of pictures of the river. Don't want to clog up PG's diary with them.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Morning all,
Ive neglected my diary a little over the first few days but good to see you have all been chatting away in my abscence !! Thanks HH for the link to mysupermarket, I didnt know about it and havent had an opportunity to take a look yet, but I will definately do so. I must admit I am sure I need to change my ways re the supermarket shopping, we only have one supermarket close by so tend to pop in there and I only visit elsewhere if we are driving past. I dont really tend to have the time to shop around, but I think maybe I need to make the time somehow . But that said, without doing exact calculations , our grocery bill came in about £200 under the budget as posted on my SOA for January and Im convinced we can reduce that much further if I concentrate on it harder. But I am really pleased with that. I will put that into my F&F fund which is looking fairly healthy. The aim is to get 50% together for my lowest creditor, obviously offer much much lower and see how we go.
Ive been feeling a bit fed up these last few days, Ive never been much good in the winter and I think working from home mainly and trying not to go out too much and spend money on fuel or in the shops, I feel like I have cabin fever ! Im very fed up with the clothes in my wardrobe ( that makes me sound very spoilt I know) although I have never bought loads, but I would love a new jumper. Told Mr Pinot last night that I had been looking online, but he told me that I am torturing myself by even looking so not to bother. For some reason it really upset me.I know its not an option as we still need to fix the dishwasher, and the windscreen on Mr Pinots car has a lovely huge crack appear in it so that needs sorting. Maybe just feeling sorry for myself. We also had some very sad news in the last few days that a very close family member has sadly passed away , so I'm sure thats all contributing to me feeling a bit fed up.
Its early in the morning though, so give me a few hours and I'm sure I will buck up and be smiling manically again soon !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
