Sorry re insurance...ours is much less than that. I always opt for a high excess to try and reassure them that I am not going to claim willy nilly. Have you tried varying the excess to say £500 for contents? £1000 for buildings?

Any news on business OD or am I just out of touch!!!?

    X

I can being doing with the Direct Lin£ quote although would prefer it cheaper. Excess is £350, that's high enough for me I think !

I couldn't actually get anyone to quote regardless of the excess to be honest. They literally threw me out once all our info was entered and said that they couldn't insure us at this time !

Anyway all is done now, I have gone with the Direct £in£ again. I will worry about it all next year now ! :D

No Mrs B, you haven't missed anything re the business overdraft. We still have it, we have heard nothing whatsoever from them and in the meantime we are keeping our heads down and keeping schtum for now ! :)

Where on earth do the days go ? There are most definitely not enough hours in the day anymore.

What news have I got ?

Well the problem with the car which we thought was the alternator has gone away. Just like that ! Not too sure what it was all about but its running fine for now. I have arranged for a replacement windscreen which will be done next week and then it just needs some smartening up. I have bought one of those pens that conceals the scratches so I am hoping to have a little go at that later. We haven't had anymore conversations about what we are going to do about the cars recently, so as its currently working I guess we will hang onto it for a little longer.

Mr PGs car going in for service next week and also needs new part which is £180 plus labour, then we need to sort his new tyres out .:(

I cancelled the direct debit back in Feb for the Gas and electricity when we had no money coming in. I have since paid them £200 but as I haven't reinstated direct debit, I gave them meter readings yesterday and have a quarterly bill of £842.00 :eek: I have paid £200 towards it online and need to speak to them and get the rest put back on monthly direct debit.

DD1 needed more school shirts, they both need new school skirts. Both girls need new school shoes. DD2 needed new undies and someone took her PE socks fromt he changing room yesterday so I need to buy ore of those . DD1 needed new lenses in her glasses £40 , DD2 eye app next week , not sure if she will need new lenses also.

It is seriously never ending at the moment, really is in one hand and out of the other on the money front. Its crazy. We have managed to clear the mortgage arrears from earlier in the year and have paid half of the accountant. We still owe her £330 which I am hoping to pay this month. I still need to pay the remainder of DD1;s school trip which is £200.

We have renegotiated our Business Phone Contract with V0da£one and have a really good deal which we are happy with, but it took alot of too ing and fro ing and refusal to budge and threats to leave Vodafone after 14 years to get it. New phones arrive today.

DD1 has a party on Saturday, its a meal and Roller Skating. Maybe its me, but she has been told the meal will be £15 at a chinese buffet plus drinks and roller skating £8 plus drinks, plus the cost of a present for the girl and also the fuel going there and back . This is a common occurrence, asked to celebrate a friends birthday with a meal, but the children must pay for themselves and are also expected to bring a decent present also. This is the third such meal in recent weeks. I have told DD1 that we cant continue with this as DD2 is now going out a little now as she is getting older. She was very understanding and said that how about if she skipped the roller skating part and just went for the meal and would only have one drink to last her all night. I felt guilty complaining about it, but seriously I feel like our pockets need to be a bottomless pit !!

Anyway thats enough of my moaning for now....onwards and upwards and work is beckoning :)

    Byeee for now xxxxx

Received a Frantic phone call from DD2 this morning , she had Athletics before school so went out this morning in her PE Kit. Queue panicky phone call to mum from the changing room as she had forgotten to pack her tights to get changed into afterwards. Their skirts have splits up the back, so when they walk up the stairs the boys peer up their skirts at their knickers , so they refuse to go bare legged or in socks.

I threw a couple of pairs in a carrier bag and flew over to the school to rescue her ! Something tells me I have been here before only a few months ago when she somehow forgot to pack her underwear !! This time though I met her and gave her the tights personally, last time I gave the bag with her undies in to her teacher who then couldn't find her and they were passed around the school all day while poor DD2 was knickerless !! :rotfl:

    Kids eh ?!

  • ...how do you forget your knickers on a morning? Its just about the only thing I remember some days.

Teenage boys are a breed apart, they should perhaps be coralled until it tones down a bit!

what a giggle. They are pricey arent they, children? Silly things growing and eating and that. Annoys me to death!
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Agreed on the expensive teenagers front (already ranted on my diary so won't do it again lol) far too expensive!

And:eek: to the utility bill!!! Is that the cheapest price, if not i'd shop around (don't forget cashback too) that's an awful lot of money for a few months...unless of course your kids are also putting 10,000 things on at once like my darling son does!! :D

:rotfl:The day she forgot her knickers was when she had swimming first thing, so trying to be organised she put her cossie on before school but forgot to then pack her knickers ! Thankfully she did have her tights that day or the boys really would have got a shock when peering up her skirt as she walked up the stairs !

Dont envy you teenage boys, I'm not sure I would be very good at dealing with them ! :o

Ooh, must pop in and read that rant, although I think you and I have both ranted lyrical to each other about child costs before !

I have done all of the shopping around on the Utility front I'm afraid, back in November when our last deal came to an end. This is locked n for a year now but still is the cheapest on the market. To be fair the girls are really good and rarely put everything on at the same time, but I am sure three hairdryers blasting away in the morning wreaks havoc with the bills.

Back on the House Insurance topic I was just opening a new savings account with Nationwide to put the money from the debts that we are on hold and whilst there decided to try again for a house insurance quote. This time it said it couldnt quote me due to the number of toilets and bathrooms we have . How crazy is that ? I am giving up on all things Insurance and Utility related now, had enough of all that for today :)

  • This sounds like madness. You live in a mansion with a flushing toilet in every room?
