Nothing much more to report on the car saga rally as yet. It made it as far as the garage, where it was booked in for a quick look over, which they did , but nothing sprung to mind. It is booked in properly next Tuesday and we will see what comes of that. Even if it is cheap ish to repair and gets it back on the road there are still other problems which we don't think are connected to the recent incidents and will continue to break down . The car is 13 years old, has done over 200K .
We think the decision is to try and get this latest problem fixed dependant on cost, sell the car on ebay, for as much as we can get. It would probably go to someone for scrap as the parts would make a bit of money, but we dont have the time to break down the vehicle and sell it in bits. We think if we are really really lucky we may get £2K for it. We had a quick look at the auctions yesterday and can pick something up much newer and more reliable for a little more than we hope to make . We will need to use the emergency fund which I have been building up again , but it is essential for business that we have something reliable. Mr PG's car has done 130K and will need changing soon also. We wont be able to get the 4x4 we need for now, but will keep a beady eye out for one at the auctions. It s pain and expenditure we could do without ,but we knew that the day was coming where we had to get shot of the car.
Thats the grand plan for today at least !!
Now we need to wait for the decision from the Bank re the Overdraft facility !
Off now to drum up some business for later in the year. What we need is a nice long contract again and we will continue to make headway with this lovely debt mountain xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Ah poor car, it sounds like it's ready for a rest (forever more) !
Our car is a 51 reg and also done around 130,000 miles. It's throwing up random problems one after the other atm. But usually we ignore it as we've never got money to investigate further. Let it sit outside for a few days and try it again and *touch wood* mysterious noises usually disappear! The service light is on constantly these days though, even right after a service :rotfl:
I'd like to get a new one but i've no idea how to do this with no credit available and no savings :rotfl: so I will no doubt continue to ponder on my quandary until the poor old thing dies completely!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. A car is the only thing I really wish we could get credit for. We need something reliable we do so much mileage between us, and it needs to look semi decent . Its such a problem for us DFW Wannabees. There is no easy answer.
My Service light is peramently lit up too, as are the sparks plugs, the ABS, the EBS , the BAC, you name it really . It emits a terrible smell that gives me a headache, coughs and chugs and gases anyone who maybe standing in the the vincinity as it pulls away ! The sun roof I darent open incase it will never close again, the windscreen has a huge crack across it, the rear passenger door wont open , oh and it conks out for no aparent reason whilst travelling along the road, with no warning whatsoever ! . Mr PG nearly had a bus plough into the back of him on Sunday night  It also refuses to start if I have done lots of short hops turning the engine on and off. After a while it goes on strike and refuses to start at all for at least an hour leaving me stranded and or late for many things !!
The auctions are very interesting they also make a mean bacon sandwich there, so I am a happy bunny watching all the cars coming through and watching the bids whilst chomping on my sarnie ! . One guy bought £60K of top of the range cars yesterday. As much as it is fortunes to spend, the glasses guide price for those cars was so much more than he paid. No doubt he is planning to put them on a forecourt somewhere for a huge profit. Got me thinking that one !!! Maybe a bit of a sideline one day ? :rotfl:LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Sorry to hear about the car.
It sounds really bad with all the issues. 200k is a very high mileage.
Hope the girls are feeling better now.June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
