In actual fact Mrs P G.. that is scary a card with no limits.. I am appalled now what they offered us ... and that we accepted... no business needs... just lets have it now......... It honestly was not greed... Just we both worked so hard we felt we needed "stuff". and two kids at uni at the same time "sigh"..... But I now look back and think... God our mortgage could of been paid off... We could be living the dream but for "stuff"... Oh wonderful hindsight... x Still glad we helped the kids though:).... Apart from son needing new car (horrendous accident) they are debt free...:) (well uni loans!!)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it bast ? We didnt know the card had no limit ( thats sounds daft doesnt it ? ) IT was only when we needed thousands of pounds for business expenses and I called up to ask what the limit was I was told.

I think we are all in danger of thinking we need stuff as a treat to ourelves because we work hard and deserve it. Then reality hits home ! You are right though you have helped the children and got them through uni. I have that yet to come and must admit to worrying about how we will manage that one should the girls both wish to go to Uni.

So sorry to hear about the accident. I really hope your son is fully recovered now xx

Lovely to hear from you x

Pinot, thank you for sharing everything with us. It really does help me a lot to know that there are others in the same or similar mess to me. I am amzazed by you credit card having no limit but both Mr Pooh and I had cards with limits in excess of £10,000 each and had a bundle of them. Our debt was so huge at one time that we took out a £20,000 loan to pay them off, then took out more loans to cover the cards again as we racked up the debt. I laughed one time when there was a cottage for sale in our village for £9000 that we could buy the row with our credit cards. Scary isn't it :D

We have come along way too, and are now Mr and Mrs Frugal. Every penny is accounted for :)
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

We had three at uni at the same time. I have never added up how much we spent as it doesn't bear thinking about.

When we had them we deliberately had them close together but had not thought of uni fees or accomodation costs at the time.
Number 4 didn't go to uni. He learnt from his siblings and avoided the debt. Went to marine college and was sponsored through his course-no student loan and is a qualified engineer. Hopefully he will soon be earning and will be earning more than his siblings too.

We had two Poohbear and that was expensive enough three !!!!! omg...
Thanks Mrs P he is fine now, he was very shaken.. He picks his car up on Tuesday.. Fortunately our son is so much better with money than we were.. He has a spreadsheet all worked out to the penny even with emergency savings...!! So when he went to buy a car even though it is credit he knew how much he could afford... I do admire him..
I am very different now as O/h is .. We went to buy a new dining room table and chairs as the chairs have completely gone. However I looked at the table and it was fine and just brought 6 new chairs which was a fraction of the cost of all new. That is a complete mind change for me. Today just went to buy new boots off my very catalogue as in the sale.. got to the checkout and realised they were a want not a need so didnt get them... and I LOVE NEW SHOES/BOOTS...:rotfl:
Hope everyone is okay in the PG household...x And don`t worry about the Uni cost you do get through it.

 3 at Uni, Pooh now I know how you are such a dab hand at surviving on next to nothing. I truly have no idea how you do it !

We have also taken out loans to pay off cards in the past, again debt built up on the business rather than luxuries when we had trouble getting paid. I think its been a pattern ever since becoming self employed. Clearly one of the downsides !

Anyway the worm is turning now. never again ! Talking of which three invoices due this week, not shown up, so thats the first on my lsit of things to chase today . :D They are al for nominal amounts an odd couple of hundred pounds here and there , but still needed quite desparately none the less !

We wont see any money from the current job until March so it will be a case of juggling madly until then and then paying off whoever we havent paid, ie the mortgage. I have spoken to the H@lif@x and explained the situation and they are fine . Phew ! x

I dont blame you for being in that camp NL. We were , to a degree but now its a case of working our blinking !!!!! off to hang on to everything we previously worked our !!!!!$ off for to get in the first place ! :rotfl:

I think they need to terrify the kids into not taking finance when they are at school . Hey we could even volunteer to go in as speakers ............" You too could be in this mess if you succumb to the credit card temptation ! " :D

Actually I drumb it into my girls on a daily basis, think they are possibly slightly sick of the subject now !

bast, I will come back and find you when I am stressing out about the Uni costs and plead for your advice in making it through ! :rotfl:

I love new shoes and boots too. They are or should I say were my vice. Not super expensive posh shoes, but any shoes really, I wasnt fussy where they came from. I think if I miss anything at all its not buying shoes or boots as often as I would like. The rest I can do without , as long as I have a comfy pair of PJ's ! Athough PJ's and heels arent a good look . :rotfl:

I am so glad your son is ok, I cant imagine how worrying that must have been. My parents always say to me that it doesnt matter how old our children get you really never do stop worrying about them. I didnt used to believe it until the girls came along :D

I bet the dining chairs look fab, I have shocked myself by buying a couple of lovely Dw£ll bits of furniture off of ebay for next to nothing, which I previously would never have dreamt of buying . They they have turned out to be everyones favourite chairs in the house . Another complete change of mind set for the better. :D

I actually meant that how I got myself into this mess was my old way of thinking was "working so hard I deserve nice things" when now it is working as hard as possible to pay all our debts and not have to work until we die!
