Morning All,
Well today has proved to me that I really must be careful what I wish for ! Yesterday I was complaining about the girls going back at school, and today I have two sickly girls off school and lying in bed ! I have a full on day and hate leaving them alone when they are poorly, but hopefully I can nip in and out and check on them. They have both fallen back to sleep now though !
Mr PG had a early morning 4.30 am start for work today ! he is out of the habit of getting up at these weird times, so it was a bit of a killer. Hopefully this job wont be as long hours as usual and he will hopefully make it home by about 7pm tonight. Still grotty hours though.
bast - Glad to hear you are still around and about, its good to have you back with us !
Piq - I read you had internet trouble on your diary  Yes I am pleased with Mr PG. I have taken a better photograph today and added that to the listing. Its all been done a bit slapdash on the listing front, but to be honest it was a quick shot in the dark idea one evening while work was quiet.
Satchmo - Sadly the pictures arent something he can do while away. So we would need to be careful as to how many were sold incase he got sent abroad at a moments notice and couldnt finish them. They are wooden pictures, he makes all of the frames, paints them hand stencils etc. He wouldnt be able to take that away to work with him, it wouldnt go down well with the clients and he works such weird and wonderful hours , Im not sure there would be an opportunity for him to do them anyway, but it was a thought, thankyou !
We do need to look properly at the costings for the pictures , as I said above it was a spur of the moment decision to put them up for sale, mainly to see if there was any interest. They are probably a bit too cheap, but its something we intend to look at. I think the £290 prices are far too steep personally and certainly not something I would be prepared to pay, hence Mr PG making it for me in the first place !
Work Diary filling up, we need more, but at least its slowly coming in. I am hoping to hear back on a few possible jobs today. We have been chasing up the invoices. We do add the interest but only when the delay gets very late. Its a tough one really, its such a fickle business, not a huge amount of clients out there and is built on reputation alone. Everybody knows everybody else. If someone doesnt like the fact that you have charged interest, its very likely that they will decide that we will never work for them again, before you know it word has spread, rumours abound and thats the end of that. We have to be careful . If you upset someone , many will do their best to make sure that you never work in the industry again. Many people out there will also spread rumours in the hope to stop a rival company getting work . For example we got in touch last week with a client we haven't had work from in a long time. They hadnt been in touch as someone had told them that Mr PG had taken a desk Management Job for a big Company and wasnt available to work for them any longer !
Thanks for the advice Satchmo its really appreciated and always good to have someone looking at things with a fresh eye.
tokicat - You have my sympathy, working for yourself and making sure you get paid is no easy ride. The vast majority of our debts are due to not being paid, running up debt to live and then not paying it back when we finally got paid as we didnt know when the next lot of pay would arrive. We also paid tax bills with credit cards for the same reason as above, as years ago they werent as accomodating on the arrangment front and also we had some very bad Accountancy advice and our bills were crazy ! All hindsight now though ! Lovely to see you here, glad you enjoyed the diary. Best of luck to you also in 2013, dont disappear it will be good to hear how you get on.
fallen - Yep the film was great, I wasnt sure what I was going to make of it really. Hope your day isnt too boring. DD2 has decided to do another egg experiment, so we now have beer glasses filled with water and eggs ,each with a different colour food colouring in them .......all in the name of Osmosis , sitting in the kitchen !! :rotfl:
After that rather long and no doubt boring update, I am off to do some work now and check on the girls.
