  • Thankyou Dec, lovely to hear from you. I will drop in on you before Christmas.

So....the food shopping is done, some in Asda, some in Aldi and the last few bits in Tesco. It has cost an arm and a leg. I cannot bring myself to write down the figure. Due to this , rather than getting excited about Christmas , I am panicking now. Barely slept for two days asI keep wakignup and worrying. If work wasnt so quiet I think I would be calmer. But whats done is done and we will have to deal with the damage later.

So....... yesterday was spent with Mr PG finishing bathroom floor and painting. He also nipped to Asda for the Booze run and Courgettes which I had woken him at 3am to tell him I had forgotten to buy . He wasnt impressed !! We have cut down on the drink, but I am worrried we will run out.

I spent the day laying the Chrismtas table with the DD's. I am really pleased with it it, it looks lovely and on a shoe string budget I hasten to add ! The plain white napkins we decorated with diamontes, the place settings we made out of scrabble letters and ribbon. It looks really pretty and I am very pleased. We lit the candles on the table last night to see how it will look on the day. Its a shame we arent eating at night time as it looks lovely all lit up.

Yesterday I wrapped more presents, still have some more to do and also the girls wrapped some for me. DD2 made Gingerbread men and DD1 made dinner as her dad and I were still really busy with our jobs. She sadly didtn really make enough but it tasted lovely so we eeked it out, I didtn want to complain ! We did thought finally sit down to watch the Family Fave of Elf at around 9 pm. DD2 isnt feeling well again she cant shake this cold, I really dont want her poorly on the day, so was does up and sent off to bed with Olbas Oil and a hot water bottle as well.

This year I have decided to make coal , just for fun to put on the end of the girls beds when they wake on Christmas Morning. It has been a standing joke that DD1 will receive coal this year as she is rather scatty ,but she did redeem herself in Tesco on saturday when she foudn the only remaining pot of gold balls to decorate the cake DD2 is making today ! I really need rice krispies to make the coal but I realied at about 1am I dont have any so I have attempted to dye some popcorn black and stick together with maple syrup and chocolate and chill overnight. I have a sneaking suspiscion this wont work, but I have yet to check the fridge and see !! I have made little tags and will pop in a bag and tie with ribbon !

So today, the house needs clearing, the veg preparing, the soup I will make today, the dressing for the other starter I can also make today. I will prepare some topping for the canapes as well and make the cheesecake. I have bought the other desserts. I have also bought the sorbet this year, Im not making the blastest stuff again. With a nod to DD2s hero Hest0n we will serve lemon sorbet in champagne and DD2 will sprinkle popping candy on top ! It sounds weird but it makes a lovely Christmassy crackly noise . If the guests arent keen, we have decided we dont really care as we think its fun and DD2 loves to get involved !! The trial run went well, I found an old bottle of Kir Royal in the garage so we tested out DD2s Popping Candy recipe on that.

Later today we have some friends coming for mulled wine and the girls will decorate their pillowcases to hang for Santa. They decorate a new one and date it each year. Its fun to see how their drawings change each year ! We will make the reindeer food and sprinkle in the garden to lead the way for Rudpolph. The fairy will finally go on to the top of the tree, we think its DD1's turn this year which should be funny as she is getting a bit big to be hoisted on top of Mr PG's shoulders to place the fairy, we may need a ladder this year ! :rotfl:

Hopefully we will then settle down to watch a movie ( Jack Frost is the film of choice tonight I believe)

I hope you all have a lovely Chrismtas Eve. I hope I will get a chance later to pop in on you all xx

Ah yes, the post Christmas chaos and debris. I've just finished clearing mine. It's the fitting of the serving dishes, that only come out once a year, back into the cupboard challenge that I so enjoy....
