Another work from home, most of the time person and I have to say I love it. It did take a while for my OH to get used to the idea that I am actually working and not skiving on the sofa watching TV. Helped by him being off a few days when I was working and seeing that I hardly even leave the room. It's handy to be there for deliveries etc and I never answer the house phone during working hours. Been able to have the DGDs now and then and work around them.

The only time I found it really difficult was when my DM was staying with me when her and my DF split. She would ask me to take her for coffee or call up the stairs with random conversations whilst I was in the middle of a telephone conference with a client. However, I don't do that aspect of the job any more so its easier to work from home now, doing admin etc.

I agree with Piq re the dream job, you will be able to do it, just not yet whilst the girls still need you. They grow up so quickly, enjoy the freedom working for yourselves brings right now, even if you are busy working you are there. When they no longer need you so much, (you'll cry first), you'll be able to pick back up where you left off.

  • Thankyou so much all of you, you have made me feel so much better....you always do !!

I dont know anyone else that works from home so I am constantly met with the "when are you going to finally go back to work ? " and" did you sit and park your backside on the sofa and watch TV all day " scenarios ?! Grr, as you say Granny its really difficult to find time to leave the room , let alone lie and relax all day.

Mr Dec, I agree its lovely working from home occasionally, but all the time can make you go stir crazy ! Infact I think I have gone stir crazy, I am a lost cause now !! Oh and go easy with the Cash For Clothes. Its a huuuuge sack that you have to fill and they are ridiculously picky with what they will and wont take. Lots of people have had bad experiences. I only and I mean only use them for items that I cant sell on ebay. If you have some nice bits of clothing that you no longer wear, it really is worth looking on ebay first and see if they are selling as you will probably get more for them although it is more time consuming. Its amazing what some people buy. I currently have a pair of the girls running spikes and also Tap Shoes up on ebay, previously they have all been given away to friends children, they are currently sitting at £10 per pair,so its well worth a shot. The Cash For Clothes is a last resort option in my opinion !

Thankyou all for your thoughts re the other job. I had a chat with my friend over lunch, who sees how manic I am on a day to day basis and she practically choked on her food when I told her I wanted to take taking on another full time job to include all the grotty hours as well. She also talked some sense into me. Mr Pinot on the other hands thinks I could do with a confidence boost and suggested I apply anyway, there are two jobs I have my eye on, see how far I get ( I say they wont be interested anyway ) and if I did actually get offered the job, then panic !! I can see his point but if they arent interested that wont do my confidence much good anyway ! In my sensible moments I know its not an option nd I would hate being away from the girls , so I need to wait although the longer I wait I think the harder it will be when I do decide the time is right. .

Lunch was lovely Be Lucky thankyou, it was at a pub neither of us have been to in years,. Funnily enough we had trouble getting in as they have moved the door since we were last there, so we found that a tad confusing , and we were stone cold sober !! Mine was a lovely ice cold Lime and Soda today as it was the middle of the afternoon !

I now have five 14 year olds making themselves look beautiful in the house , I think they are goign out for a little while but they need to get a shifty on as they arent allowed out after dark . Poor DD2 is all alone , her friend couldnt come after all :(

I have been a bit naughty and bought a nice bottle of wine to share with Mr Pinot later. When it say nice, its not £15 / £20 nice, but £5 nice rather than 3 for £10 ! Currently chilling in the freezer for an hour to get it lovely and cold . Mr Dec have you drunk all of your posh wine or are you still ploughing through it ?!! :D

Thanks again all of you, have a lovely Friday evening xx

  • I think wine when it costs less doesnt stick in your throat so much. We have bigger fish to fry with our pennies!
