The larger libraries don't close on Wednesdays. In the olden days maybe. Is that why you're in the broom cupboard, because you're using an olden days form of transport?

I never said what size the glass had to be....I mean look at the size of granny's.....

  • Hello! I've been lurking for an age, but thought I'd pipe up re: the art stuff!

You've probably already found all this, but in case you haven't... (all I did was google image search it...)

I found: this is apparently an image of that particular painting (I wasn't sure if you had a copy??) plus a few of his others, just scroll down. And an interesting telegraph article & also a Financial Times article, random. That seems to be the best stuff. It's probably worth trawling google images though, clicking on pictures through to the websites to see what other information you can gather? I hope the library helps, though can see that being a case of sitting for hours and flicking through a mountain of books just to find a few paragraphs on him! (Hopefully not though!)

I'd never come across him before, am glad I did! A whole new world :) It seems a bit ridiculous to give her a really obscure painting and expect her to find out about though?! There is basically nothing on the internet about that picture, the mind truly boggles. I don't quite know what they expect you to do re: finding out all the background for it - write to his family and ask for his diary excerpts around the time it was painted?? I think this might have to be a bit of a case of writing things like "His influences seem to be.../I think he is trying to show by way of doing such & such that..." and basically give her opinion on it? Draw on what you can find out about his other work and help flesh out her essay from there? Thank god my teachers never did anything like this to me(!).

PS. Good luck with getting your money back from those clients. I'm self employed as well and had money malarky at the start of the year too. Thankfully a threat of taking it to court forced them to cough up! Also, now I'm here..! Hope all the back pain stuff has settled down. Occasionally mine flares up in that kind of 'can do nothing but lie here, second to second, screaming/whimpering' way, so you had my utmost sympathies through all of that!

PPS. Can relate to the nonsense people spout about what an easy life working from home must be. I've started retorting in quite a clipped manner if they dare to make stupid comments, I just decided I would give as good as they gave, as people who basically want to make digs at me probably aren't worth my time at the end of the day. Their loss and better to develop healthy relationships with the people that value you. It's hard to deal with the under-the-surface attitude some people give off though, when you can never quite call them on it. Argh.

To end on a happy note - Rice Pudding = yum! x

  • I am on a roll today !

Cashed in £25 worth of Am@zon Vouchers on T0p C@shback this afternoon to go towards Xmas Pressies.

I have sold £18.00 worth of odds and sods on Z@pper and £12.00 on Am@zon Trade in this afternoon also. Just need to package it up in a box and get it to the Post Office tomorrow if I get a chance. I may put it towards Xmas or I may jsut squirrel it away and use it for Xmas if I need to. Im am unsure at the moment.

Two more items due to end on Ebay this evening, both have watcher so hopefully I will get a few pounds from them :D

Thats it for now, off to collect DD2 from school and head to the stables ! Not looking forward to that in this weather, but I darent cancel as the poor child hasn't ridden since June for one reason or another and I dont think I will ever be forgiven if I dont take her this evening ! Oh and the lesson had to be paid for up front and is non refundable ! :(

Docs for a check up on back after the riding, so it will be a busy evening.

Lucky that dinner is bubbling away but according to DD1 it smells like old socks ! :rotfl::rotfl:
