I would say do the new budget and see what it looks like with the proper figures. You at least know how much of a difference it'll make to the amounts you can offer them.

Gut instinct is that they would be easier to deal with if you can offer them the same this year as last if not more, not sure they'd be quite so pleased at less.

However, it really does depend on how much you're paying them at the moment. My rates of payment mean they will be paid in full in 10 years, as long as they don't start adding interest again and I've been told that they are happy to accept that. I've also pointed out that they would get less if I entered into formal insolvency eg bankruptcy or IVA so that helps.

I think as long as you specify why you have less to offer them, eg cost of living raises and the reduction isn't too drastic you should try it. You can always pay slightly more if/when you've got it but have the relaxing knowledge that the amount you have to find is less. If they reject your reduced offer you can always continue with the current rate and if just a couple accept less you'll find it easier to manage.

  • Thankyou Granny , thats definately food for thought. If I redo the budget on the official CASHflow site then it will be there to stay if that makes sense. I can do my own version although they have their trigger figures of which I believe we possibly are entitled to more leeway in various aspects due to the ages of the girls now. I also understand that due to the cost of living etc the CASHflow trigger figures have increased since our financial statement last year.

Our mortgage has increased, our council tax also , water rates and with DD2 at secondary school now we have her bus fares and various other things have changed. We dont pay as much as I would like towards the debts already , if I decrease it I fear the debt will never be gone to be honest. I dont have a DFD, it was too scary to contemplate, I was happy muddling along in my own little world setting myself targets and making plans for full and finals along the way.

I think I will redo my SOA when I get a chance just to see exactly what the difference is money wise. I think its in the region of £300 which would be a big chunk to reduce to the predators.

    Thankyou ! :D

what about using CCCS debt remedy, I think they also tell you what amounts they advise which I think should be the same as cashflow. x

We will get there in the end x

  • Yes thats worth a try, I think the figures they both use are a little different, CASHflows I believe are a tad more generous but I may be wrong !

In the meantime, uninsured "Cat that Shall Not be Named" came for his breakfast this morning with a nasty wound on his tummy. Managed to get him to the vets before they closed. He is currently waiting for an operation at a cost of £250.00 :eek:. As the suregery was closing he has been taken to the emergency vets a million miles away. He needs to be collected from there at the exact same time as I have promised DD1 a lift to a friends and then to the station and DD2 that I will take her and a friend out for a couple of hours this evening.

Thankfully the emergency fund still has a little left in it to pay for the vets bills, but I need fuel and food . Business account is at zero with nothing showing until Tuesday so I am using the emergency now for food and fuel.:eek::eek:

  • Hi Pinot

If you cannot live to a 'normal' standard then you really need to reduce your payments to the creditors.

Of course they won't be jumping for joy but if you explain about the increases in bills etc with no extra income to cover them then they will be fine.

What they hate is a letter to say that the offer is reduced with no explanation - explain it all and all will be fine.

Get it done asap so you don't have to keep reducing the food budget.

Apologies if i come across sternly!!!

Dont be silly of course you dont come across sternly. I really appreciate your advice.:D

We have been doing fine by reducing the food budget , although it is getting a little more difficult. Our budget was quite high I think compared to many, so we have used a few hundred of that to pay the additional expenses. Its not ideal though. Its mainly as I have mentioned so many times before that we dont get paid in one lump at the beginning or end of a month. This month for example, we aim to pay ourselves £4000 for the month as per our SOA and CASHflow Statement, but we only received £2000 of that in September. The other £2000 actually showed yesterday on the 29th of the month. Its the juggling thats still causing a problem. We used the £2000 to live off ofin September, but didnt pay the mortgage which has increased to £2000 also, so the money that came into the business yesterday needs to pay that, infact I have organised that payment this morning, so we are still playing catch up. Thankfully our mortgage provider has been great with our erratic payments. The problem we now have is that we are starting October, but again we havent got the full amount to budget with. Thats where things are really tough to plan around, but its alwasy been that way.

I think I will redo my SOA to get a proper look at all of the figures then sit back down again and re-think.

    Thankyou EE !

Thankyou L, he looks so poorly and sad. He is usually very sprightly and he hates being indoors so he is going stir crazy as he isnt allowed out. He has a drainage tube in his tummy which keeps on leaking and a collar which is driving him insane. If he needs to scratch we are doing it for him ! He cant get used to the collar and keeps bumping into the door frames, walls and furniture. He looks so sorry for himself. Oh and he is struggling to eat or drink with the collar as well. DD2 fed him from a spoon yesterday and Mr Pinot from his hand earlier today.:(

He is off to the Vets on Tuesday to have the drainage tube taken out and the stitches come out in 3 weeks time. The cyst was huge apparently hence why the tube is still leaking.

  • Well they say things happen in threes and I really do believe that !!

After my recent Car Bumping Escapades, I returned to my car last night which was parked in a nice quiet side street to find it had been hit. The driver had tried to drive away without leaving his details ,apparently but thankfully some lovely people had seen and heard the crunch and ran after him. As he stopped at a junction they hammered on the window and gave him a right old telling off. They managed to get his details from him for me of which I am really thankful .

Now to add to the every mounting jobs list, I have had to contact the car Insurance today. They are arranging for the car to be collected and a courtesy in it place. The trouble is I probably wont want to give the nice shiny courtesy car back when the time comes !!! :rotfl:
