Hope the day goes well, how annoying about the swimming hat (could you sneakily draw it on with marker pen haha).
Ha HA ! Funnily enough DD2 suggested that, trouble is school hat is white with red writing and her current hat is a rather lary ,fetching marbled effect of every colour under the sun ! Agree with the other posters about not ironing btw - I don't iron ANYTHING, just put it away. If it needs ironing before I wear it I might, but only for a special occasion, not for any other reason - creases fall out when you wear stuff anyway!LBM:1/1/12Debts @ LBM:£43,546  Debts now: £9,486  78% PAIDFound YNAB 1/2/14 - the best thing EVER!0 -

13 - Buy DD2 new swimming hat. She has a perfectly good one but school have told her off for wearing it. New rules say it must have school logo on. How bloody ridiculous. She is only swimming until Easter and its her last year at the school. I'm sure it will be cheap as chips but thats not the point, not only the money its finding the time to go to the only shop that actually stocks them before she swims again on Friday. Apparently if she isnt wearing it they wont let her swim. - Nope ! I'm still sulking about that one
Hi Pinot,
Well done on such a productive day yesterday!!
For library books, as I sign them out, I set a reminder on the phone for the Friday before they're due back so I know to either send DD after school with them or can take them in Saturday morning. Also set a reminder Saturday morning and write it on the calendar .... I hate paying library fines and like you, learnt the expensive way  Another errr not very public spirited way of doing it, is to sign books out on youngests library card as children don't get fines .... but I don't let them get fines anyway ... down-side is of course you can't get as many out at once.
Swim-hat I would protest at this stating environmentally unfriendly, not cost-effective, or lend her one if it means that much. I totally get that the kids should wear hats, but it's a bit mean of them to start dictating it has to be a branded one!! Phone head-teacher and explain things tight, no money etc. (if you can bear to do it!) It's a fiver better off in your pocket! Or ... do any of her friends have one she can borrow from an older year if she absolutely must?
Well done again, I love catching up with your stories!!0 -
I moved back to my mother's in london for a while (years ago) and went to take out a library card again, they told me i was banned from borrowing until i returned books i had taken 10 years ago  the fine was for over £300 :eek::eek: needless to say i didn't bother.
I had returned the books too cheeky beggars lol they used to have a rubbish wooden box outside and you could quite easily put your hand in and nick them.....my mistake for thinking noone would be interested in science & maths books:rotfl:
I just took a card out in ds1 name:money:like ceebeeby says you don't get late charges:rotfl:
