Happy Sunday to you all !

Mine has been so hectic, been rushed off my feet.

    Spot of housework this morning
    Assisted DD2 with some homework
Tackled a very small amount of ironing and put it away.
    Collected DD1 from her friends
Shopping for parents then visited them again for a couple of hours
Wrote a very polite response to Marks and Spencer money re their recent letter, politely reminding them that I'm not ignoring them at all and have infact paid them this month as well as send a very detailed letter with my Financial Statement attached, to which they havent replied. I did let them know that all the other creditors ( not quite all, but they dont need to know that bit !:D have replied favourably, freezing interest and accepted offers of reduced payment)
Took DD2 to horseriding. She helps out at the stables and they pay her in points. When they accumulate she can put them towards lessons. She had a wonderful time.
Discussed option with DD1 and jollied her along with revision for test week starting tomorrow
    Cleaned out rabbit cage
Made 4 individual Tuna and Sweetcorn pies for tea ( I was even clever enough to put everyones initials on them so they looked pretty !) I am so proud of myself, cookign isnt really my forte ! Mr Pinots is waiting for him when he finally arrives home from Manchester this evening.

So thats my day, oh and it was another NSD ! I could get used to this !

Hope everyone has had a good day today x

  • wow you've been busy :) re the m&s....could it be that the dept you sent a letter to doesn't communicate with the other dept that have received your letter? I've found this a few times when i was originally setting up my dmp! annoying but they eventually get their acts together and send out the right letters ;)

Well done on the dinner, sounds yum, i hate cooking so will miss mr dfw not being here for a month........i may lose some weight though lol so not all a loss :p

Evening Pinot, very creative dinner for you :)
I've learnt a trick with the ironing, when hanging things out on an airer that are sopping wet, pull the legs or arms out with your hands to remove the creases and stop them being scrunched up. I also use hair straighteners on collars (very effective)
Hope M&S sort their acts out

  • HI- like you I struggled for a long time trying to do all this myself, and in the end because of pressure from creditors went down the IVA route which has turned out I feel to be the best thing. You may or may not have the same views as I did, I felt that I wanted to pay everything off and was working very long hours, selling things on ebay, you name it- but creditors will only accept low payments for a while and then want to start looking at securing their debts one way or another. If your income is not secure- i.e. neither of you are in regular employment, then to be honest your best route may be bankruptcy. I appreciate its probably not want you want to hear, but an IVA is only good if you have a regular income and can maintain the payments over the 5 years that it runs.
I would be inclined to suggest you take advice- there are debt charities such as Payplan, Christians Against Poverty (who are a very professional organisation and have trained insolvency practitioners) , Citizens Advice etc- you need an appraisal of where the money will come from, and at the end of the day it will either be income, in which case an IVA is suitable, or your assets, in which case sadly Bankruptcy is the solution. I would personally only recommend debt management, or an arrangement to pay, if you could get everything paid off over a few years, or where the arrangement is only intended to be temporary.

Thankyou for your post, its really appreciated. We have taken advise from many of those you mentioned above and although our situation looks as though it will run over many years , we are very confident it can be resolved before this time. Although work is thin on the ground this month, such is the nature of our business that this is not uncommon. The same as you ,we do want to pay everything off, not run and hide. We are though still here to tell the tale and determined to try and sort this out.

An IVA hasnt been mentioned to us by anyone which did surprise me, although it is something we looked into ourselves, but all organsiations we spoke with recommended the same, a DMP for now at least. We are in full employment. Bankrupcy is an option that we could consider, as is selling the house as there is equity, but at this moment in time, we are comfortable with the route we have decided to go down for now. Who knows though ,what the future may bring and we may very well need to back track and consider one of the other options.

I am pleased that an IVA is working for you and it would be great if you continue to keep in touch. Thanks again.

    Hi Pinot,

Sounds like you've had a rushed couple of days! I love the idea of the tuna and sweetcorn pies ... what pastry and binding did you use - I've a couple of tins of tuna (and one of salmon) in my cupboard, screeching for something inventive to be done with it.

Horse-riding sounds like a fabulous trade off ... working for lessons.

Are either of your DD's old enough to help with the ironing yet to make it less of a chore - even if you could sort it into easy stuff?

I like you always imagined M&S to be super reasonable ...!

Now that really made me laugh. I can imagine the looks on the families faces whilst I gently and lovingly straighten Mr Pinots Shirt Collars with my GHD's !!!:rotfl:

Yep its been pretty hectic !

The pie thingy was sooo easy. It was 2 tins of tuna, one of sweetcorn, mixed it all together with a lovely dollop of creme fraiche, bit of pepper and some grated cheese. Popped it in individual little pie dishes and put a lid of some ready rolled puff pastry on top. Made everyones initials with the leftovers ( except mine, I got fed up by then ! Oh and Mr Pinots had D for Dad but had a giggle as it was a P for Mr Pinot when I turned it upside down ! Such childish behaviour:)) Oh I digress, again, brush some milk over the top and pop in the oven on 200 for 15 mins. Voila, a pretty little pie or 4. We had new pots and salad with it. It was all lurking in the cupboards and fridge and needed to be used , so I was pretty pleased with myself !

You could always try mixing the Tuna with Dolmio if you think you might miss it !;)

I burbled on about how I made the tuna pies to Itsadogs by mistake. I'm sure she wasnt really that interested !

Yes the horse riding trade off is great. She loves being around the horses and it is so expensive. So she gets her horsey fix, the stables gets help and she is allowed to ride into the bargain, so we are all happy !

Yes DD1 is old enough and has attempted it a few times. She has been pretty bogged down with school work recently and has such alot of other interests that take alot of her time, she is a very sociable little butterfly ! Must admit though a little more help would come in handy , as she has been reminded of this evening !
