Morning Pinot, I think you should bunk off parents evening ;-)

Congratulations on the frozen interest do you now greet your postman with a biscuit and cup of tea so as not to scare him hehe.

Good luck with the ironing, and I hope some work comes through soon for the business, January is always a tough time of year :-(

Absolutely !! I didnt like him much this morning so he only got tea and no biscuits, so it really does depend how much good news he brings me !! The day he brings me letters saying we are debt free forever, he will get a Magnum of Champage although I fear that day is so so far away that it will be the Postmans Great Grandson who gets the final celebratory prize !:D

  • Think about that champagne, it will keep you going. I had 4 bottles in the fridge when I started, I made a pact to have one at the end of each year of my DMP!

Am trying to avoid supermarkets as much as possible for Jan and Feb and empty cupboards. Still waste far too much food, grrrrrr.

M&S are very bad people at finances!!! Karma will come, you will see.

Thats a great idea except for I think I would need to buy a new fridge to accomodate my 31 years worth of Champagne !!!:rotfl:How far are you into your DMP now ?

Yes, Ive been trying to avoid Supermarkets now, but was worrying the girls had no fruit and veg. I am getting much better with the food wastage I think.

I had always assumed for some reason that M&S would be the people that would be easy to work with. I will drop them a line today with another copy of the letter and see how I go. I made my payment to them this month anyway so they can see that I'm not actually ignoring them, I am paying them, but just not as much as they would like !:D

    Good luck with M&S.

I try get veg when on offer, cook and freeze myself. Sounds silly but tastes so much better than bought frozen that is often waterlogged.

Infact all left overs get frozen.

Also I buy some tinned fruit to add to fruit salad that I do each week. Again sounds illogical but I have had some fantastic deals on good fruit like tinned apricots from Waitrose ocado site. I have become such a savvy shopper since DMP. I like good food but it's one of the few areas you have real choice and opportunity to save when on the plan.

Can be very useful when having get togethers too. I use my bargains and get the others to bring the other stuff when they offer.

    Good evening everyone!
Just catching up on Pinot's news. I must say a girls night sounds lovely especially with having an all male household. I was just talking to DS2 about cutting back on shopping. Whilst we have no choice but to spend only what we have, I have let it slip a bit over the Christmas period and so tomorrow its back to business because it is so satisfying seeking out the bargains. I also need to plan better as although its much improved, I do throw some things from the fridge away still which is unnecessary.

We get our cinema tickets with Tesco vouchers which is great although not so many now as we shop at Morrisons more and more as it definitely works out cheaper. I think a lot of it is because it is a much smaller store so I am tempted less.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and I hope that more work comes your way very soon Pinot.

  • Thankyou LoubyLou, girls night didnt quite go as planned I'm afraid as parents werent feeling too good, so I have spent the evening with them instead. But thats fine, if it makes them feel better then I am good with that. If you are in need of a girls night, we could plan a Virtual One, I will bring the wine and you can bring the Choccies !!

Sorry this is short, need to head back out now to collect DD2 from her party. She fancied sleeping in her own bed after all, bit of Homebird that one x

Oh, been a NSD today though !! Whoopee !!

  • Hi Pinot.

You mention about the cinema. The last time I went to the cinema was with my fiance, now my wife, back in 1988 to see 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'. I seem to remember this was half animated and half not.
    :)

You said about buying a birthday present which reminds me it is DS birthday on 21st of this month. More spending.
I class a NSD as a day I personally don't spend any money. Any direct debits which come out of our account I don't count these as they have already been accounted for in the budget.

I'm not keen on ironing either. I do it occasionally and will iron clothes for DD, DS & myself early in the morning if I have to. DW always says my ironing is not very good. I suppose that is a good enough excuse to get out of ironing. I do other jobs though - washing, gardening, decorating, cleaning the house and bathroom. :)

You mention you have found a spending log. Are you able to enlighten me, as I may find this useful? :)

I hope you're enjoying the bottle of wine with your friend this evening.
We too have a business website and it gets about three visits per day, but nobody buys anything.

    Enjoy your Sunday! :D

A virtual girls night sounds great. :j
It's strange to think we may actually live close but will never meet such is the issue of debt:(. Mind you if I win the mega millions one day i;ll pay off a few debts on here and then we'll all meet so here's to that day:)

PS I secretly like it when my boys have decided to come home instead of staying the night. It even happened recently and mine are teenagers. Precious times.
    Sleep tight all.

Hi, just popped in for a catch-up on how you're doing :).

I see you've added your mortgage figure to your signature, well done. I actually found it quite liberating (if a little scary!) when I totalled all my debts on here - hope you feel the same :).

Hope your parents are feeling better x
