    Hi Pinot,
Well done on such a productive day yesterday!!
For library books, as I sign them out, I set a reminder on the phone for the Friday before they're due back so I know to either send DD after school with them or can take them in Saturday morning. Also set a reminder Saturday morning and write it on the calendar .... I hate paying library fines and like you, learnt the expensive way  Another errr not very public spirited way of doing it, is to sign books out on youngests library card as children don't get fines .... but I don't let them get fines anyway ... down-side is of course you can't get as many out at once. :o
Swim-hat I would protest at this stating environmentally unfriendly, not cost-effective, or lend her one if it means that much. I totally get that the kids should wear hats, but it's a bit mean of them to start dictating it has to be a branded one!! Phone head-teacher and explain things tight, no money etc. (if you can bear to do it!) It's a fiver better off in your pocket! Or ... do any of her friends have one she can borrow from an older year if she absolutely must?

Well done again, I love catching up with your stories!!

Do you know, I really do try and be as organised as you as far as the library books go. I write it in my diary, I put it on the calender on the PC so it pings upand jumps around in front of me, you name it I write it everywhere, but somehow I still dont take them back. Part of it is because I dont often go into town if I can help it ( Not keen on the whole school playground thing, so I tend to do what I call a drive by and sling the girls out at the gates and keep driving so I can start work!):rotfl:, also when I do remember I am usually working in the office and I know this is such a silly excuse but my purse is usually downstairs with the library cards in to renew online. Its two flights down and generally cant be bothered! I know thats really bad. Anyway after yesterdays little shock ( must confess its been worse, and I actually nipped out without paying yesterday. The excuse being I had no money in my purse! I will go back before the end of the week) I have now written the library card numbers in my little black book on my desk so when they need renewing, I dont need to go anyway, just open the little black book and off I go ! Why I didnt do that before is anyones guess !

And if I rang the headteacher feigning poverty re the School Hat, she would fall off her chair laughing, as I think according to most of our little town we have it all and no cares or worries in the world !! Also she is not the most discreet of head mistresses and it would be around town before you can say Jack Robinson as my mum would say ! I think I will send her in with the old hat on Friday just to wind them up, I'm in that kind of mood today !! I will report back on Friday as to whether she is banned from swimming or not ! Oh and no there isnt one she can borrow from an older child she is in year 6 so at the top of the school.

I need to go and catch up on your diary now !

  • I moved back to my mother's in london for a while (years ago) and went to take out a library card again, they told me i was banned from borrowing until i returned books i had taken 10 years ago  the fine was for over £300 :eek::eek: needless to say i didn't bother.

I had returned the books too cheeky beggars lol they used to have a rubbish wooden box outside and you could quite easily put your hand in and nick them.....my mistake for thinking noone would be interested in science & maths books:rotfl:

I just took a card out in ds1 name ;):money:like ceebeeby says you don't get late charges:rotfl:

OMG £300 , and I was keeling over at yesterdays £14.00 odd ! DD1 has a card and can take adult books out, so I think that is most definately the way forward rightly or wrongly ! Lucky your DS1 isnt about to return the books you take out on his card, am sure he would get some slightly odd looks if returning Shopaholic and Baby or some equally girly book !:)

  • Had a very odd bitty day today and dont feel like I have achieved much really.
Mr Postie yesterday delivered a letter from MBNA re some charges amounting to just under £500 that I am trying to claim back ,with a resounding no, go away , weve done nothing wrong and dont want to speak to you again ! Standard stuff ! Just trying to decide which way to play it next, send them a LBA and see if they play ball ( Capital One suddenly did when I send them one of those), or try the Ombudsmen / then court if I am brave enough. Or just sit back leave it for a while rather than risk winding them up re the DMP. Hmmmm think I will sleep on that for another night. I have posted on another forum who have been great with advise on credit card matters before so I will wait and see what response that brings.

Went to visit a friend for an hour this morning. She is a nail technician, we have a deal, she does my nails whilst I give her a very soggy shoulder to cry on re her debt and relationship problems ! Think she is slightly baffled the extent of my knowledge re all things debtlike ( by no means though, am I an expert , obviously!) , as mine are my guilty secret :o. But it works nicely, I have lovely shiny nails for free and she has had someone to talk to, so we are all happy !

Tackled some ironing when I got home as it is now threatening to engulf the who Pinot Household. DD2s is all done just needs to be put away now. I hate that job too ! I would much rather be cleaning its far more therapeutic !

Oh, I put £8.00 :) into my F&F Account which was unused money from the budget we have set aside for the children to continue some hobbies. I am determined to try and put odd pennies here and there to one side in the hope of being able to offer our smallest Creditor an F&F sometime in the not too distant future. Probably could have bought the dreaded swimming hat with the £8 but its the principal !

Paid Santander the Sum offered re our loan, despite them not yet acknowledging my letters.

Fredrickson Int wrote thanking us for our payment for this month and suggesting we set up a Direct Debit for future payments. No thankyou !

Had some possible work in for Jan and Feb, just waiting for it to all be confirmed, but thats the way it works, so no great shakes but nice to have some possible dates on the calender.

Still waiting to hear re yesterdays contract.

And thats all for now I think. Off to do more work.:(

Hope you are all having a good Tuesday !

:rotfl:Perfect !! Maybe I could rob the library as I will need a few thousand books to squish flat all the clothes !

  • I accidently bought the wrong swimming trunks for ds1 last year & he had to have 'uniform' or else he wasn't allowed in. Well I said i'd send him some but they'd have to let him wear the old pair until next pay day (grrr the wrong pair were navy -the colour of the uniform- but they were supposed to have black) well i got an email saying never mind we will find a pair in lost property till then..........he rang me in tears later that day, they'd given him a pair of speedos that were two years too small for him :o:o luckily for him he was only 12 at the time so i'm sure he'll get over it :D:rotfl: and i quickly gave in and sent him a new pair that fitted pmsl. 1- to the school. 0- to mummy & son :rotfl:
