I would have never got the job as it wasn't an offer

It was a trial that may have led to an offer.

Bl00dy hell I feel like kicking you up the !!!!! - why the heck didn't you do that flippin trial. You aren't supposed to say 'ok thanks', you are supposed to press them for work. There probably is nothing wrong with you but by heck, you are driving us crazy! Please, stop with this woe is me attitude, and go out there and kick some !!!!! of your own with these agencies!
because on here you all seem to think if I say 'why not' or 'look there is a job on your own website' I will be causing trouble and come over agressive which I am not and I have more on my plate to deal with than arguing with agencies.

I don't think anyone has said anything of the sort.

Nobody said to argue with them. However you need to work with them and question them further and see what you can both come up with.

There is plenty of middle ground between 'meek' and 'aggressive'.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Not too late. Just not proactive in the slightest.
If it's still available where are you not calling them and apologising for not going and asking if you can still attend?
Do you think a job is going to fall out of the sky into your lap?

Because I assumed the other person had been called back for a trial too which now doesn't seem likely or they would have got the job since it was at 2nd interview stage. It is too late now and I would make myself look stupid, I just move on.

Perhaps the other person proved unsuitable or didn't turn up either.

No it would make yourself look more eager and willing to admit to making a mistake.

Chances are there was no other person, as I said they wanted you BUT I think they had some reservations so wanted the trial for you to prove yourself.

Go back and ask them, NOTHING to loose, they will either still be interested or if they are hacked off there wil be no chance of this or another job with them.

What did you say when you said you xould/would not go, there may be away to talk it up with a change in circumstances.

reply today from an agency that I sent my CV to for a job with a large restaurant co in London where the company only want to interview people who are working!
'Thank you for your covering letter and CV!
I think you have some great experience for this position and I had an informal, confidential chat with the client about your experience however due to the fact you have been out of the work place for so long he will not consider your CV unfortunately & is only looking for people currently in work.
I could not disagree more with his decision but due to the high number of candidates actively looking at the moment clients are in a position to be more picky.'
Like I say if agencies won’t take a stand and companies won’t even interview you then how do you go about getting a job?
