I dont think there are 400 people applying for every role.

I have just opened a big hotel. I had about 100 CVs for one role. I interviewed everyone who met the skills criteria required. That was 8.

We had agency help with the more senior positions, so interviewed 2-3 or so.

some roles were actually difficult to fill. We were not inundated with CVs even for Restaurant Manager etc.

Some roles were not even advertised. This is why it is critical to maintain strong relations with strong Recruitment Consultants and business contacts.

    Is this in London?

I have no business contacts and email the agencies once a week or call to touch base.

People only really with hospitality backgrounds will apply to work for a hotel etc I have found

This seems to be your stock answer on every post and thread that you take part in. If they don't agree with you, then you counteract with this unhelpful one-liner and then often follow it up with either deleting all of your posts or saying I'm off and I'm not coming back.

And then you wonder why you are not getting jobs??

I dont think I have deleted all of my posts

I will just have to face up to it, I will never work again. Thanks for the replies all

Crikey, you really do sound like a misery guts. Would you want to work with you?

It really irritates me that some people seem to think that they are entitled to a job. There are literally thousands of people looking for work. You've been lucky enough to have a stable job for the last twenty years in the same company. How many people can say that?
Instead of being so negative and full of doom and negativity, take that chip off your shoulder and start being someone that people would want to work with.

No it is not London as it happens.

the point is that people make incorrect assumptions e.g. 400 people go for every role. THey do not. Businesses are still opening. Successful ones. None of my accounts team even answered an advert.

I dont understand your last statement, but I am sure it is not relevant to your ability to find work. Only you can make yourself more marketable and if 12 agents (who make their income from placing people in work) cannot be bothered, then there is something else wrong I am afraid.

Ok so this is a long standin agency you have used.

Were they involved in the job that had the trial day?

If they were, have they put you forward for any job since then or is this the first?
